I didn't know what to make of the guy when he was hired . . . and still don't. But today anyway, he didn't screw anything up and appeared genuinely thankful to be at Alabama.

He talked up the players and learning from the process - and how the operation is Tuscaloosa is top notch and something he can learn from. The guy appears to know his place on this team, you get the feeling that if he does or says anything outside the norm, he will have Saban's foot up his arse and a pink slip.

H gets a for this news conference at least.

With Alabama always in the top 5 in D, I just want to see him get them in the top 20 nationally in offense and hopefully in the top 3-5 in the SEC. With the offensive talent at RB and WR, anything less will be a failure.

Must be nice having two former NFL head coaches on staff.

Still not sold of Kiffin or Coker. I'll wait for the on-field (and off-field) results. Watching the interview did ease some of my concerns about Kiffin's maturity (or previous lack thereof)

If he is genuine about learning from mistakes and being grateful for the opportunity, then watch out.

If it is disingenuous and he's still the old Lane looking for the quickest jump upward, it will be a fiasco.

The longer he's here and the more he speaks, I am getting more comfortable that it may be the former. He can do a lot for us, if he understands the limitations of his role and how to work with Nick Saban.

He did say he'll sing rammer jammer all night long after beating Auburn this year but they edited that part out.

From the sound of it, if he can keep his mouth shut before the UT and UF games, he should be fine.

I actually think he could be a pleasant surprise at OC for Bama fans. When he doesn't have the distractions of being HC, he has a pretty damned good football legacy behind him.

Well, considering Saban scripted his comments for him...
