Early on the Big 12 South was stacked and the North wasn't. So that is just like the SEC West and East today.

The big thing is the Big 12 lacked any conference pride. Any that exists today was invented due to realignment.

It always seemed like the Texas12 with a little OU sprinkled in to me. They seemed to control the conference not the other way around. I guess that is why Nebraska has struggled to keep up?

As the great Nature Boy Ric Flair used to say " to be the man you have to beat the man". You have to play the best. That is the SEC. Missouri was never going to up their game ( new facilities, paying coaches more, etc) to be a champion while they were in the Big 12.

Again THANK YOU SEC THANK YOU !!!!!!

Baylor averaged over 52 a game last year.

You could almost predict that would melt eventually. It happens to Oregon every year. They dust everyone until they play a fast defense. Not that either team is bad because they are damn good teams but it makes them to be world beaters.

That's because all Muslims refer to soda as coke.

Yankees refer to soda as pop.

Texas controlled the boardroom but OU controlled the field and won more Big 12 titles than anyone else.

Nebraska struggled to keep up for the same reason Tenn did- the game has changed in a way where local talent matter more than national brand and exposure.

They bolted the Big 12 because the conference was not being proactive with bundling its media (aka not making a big 12 network).

Nebraska's problem was that because they were in the North, they rarely played Texas and Oklahoma, which meant much less national exposure. Their schedule generally consisted of such powerhouses as Kansas, Iowa State, Mizzou, Kansas State, and Colorado. Oklahoma State, on the other hand, had marquee games with Texas, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma. That's a lot more media exposure.

Nebraska is in a good place now. A&M found their natural home. Mizzou is in a good place, but an awkward one for them (they would have been better off following Nebraska to Big 10 country). Colorado is in a better place, albeit, a much less competitive one (not that they were going to be competitive anyways).

I don't see how any of the teams that left the Big 12 ended up worse.

I think the Big12 is ultimately afraid of losing Texas and OU so they have pandered to them so much that it hurt them in the end and you had all the teams leave. They really need to focus on the entire conference instead of letting the small teams fend for themselves.

Because of Missouri's location we are similar to the Big 12, B1G, and SEC equally.

Dumbest post of all time.

Yankees, you are not similar to the SEC at all.

You're spot-on but it's too late to focus on the conference as a whole because that would mean TX giving up some $$ and that ain't happening.

Owell. Y'all are part of the family now. Everyone has that retarded cousin, old maid aunt or gay uncle I guess .. we'll just have to hide y'all away at family reunions and not ever leave you alone with the kids or pets or sharp instruments.

I'm still disappointed my school stooped so low as to join the lowly $EC.

Maybe one day we will strive to achieve the conference standards that the prestigious University of Missouri needs.

They won the East last year. If anything they have made the East stronger. Can't wait to get this season started. Should be a good one.

The SEC is where we really should have been since the SWC became unstable. As far as the relative strengths of the conferences, imo the early B12 was probably on par w/ the SEC at the time, or close to it. Not the SEC of today, the SEC of that time.

To be perfectly honest, since A&M went though a terrible dry spell in the B12, you'll be hard-pressed to find many Aggies who have fond memories of the conference. Consequently, I think we're predisposed to look at anything SEC in a favorable light.

I'll say this: as much as people joke here about the REC, I don't think it compares to what happened in the Bevo Conference. I may simply be biased from years of experience in the B12 (and SWC), though.

Also, my opinion of both teams is that both programs have stepped up and made themselves a part of the proud tradition. Welcome to the SEC.
