I'm talking about raft, kayak or canoe where the water is calm so my crew can crush some cold beer. I live in B'ham.

Five Mile Creek up in Brookside is decent. It's not far from Gardendale. Cahaba way south of town(like Montevallo south) is good too if the water isn't down like it may be now due to lack of rain.

They had a sign saying they were prohibited, but we all had had a small cooler in our canoes with a few beers in them last time I went and they didn't say anything. I'd say if you don't act a fool, you'll be fine but just know going in they're prohibited and they may say something.
There's a few different runs there you can do, and a couple of the put-ins are on private property and you have to use the Brookside canoe company to shuttle you there. Last time I went(last year around this time) the mayor was the one driving the shuttle. He's a character.

Floating the San Marcos river through the TX State campus in late April or early September when all their sluts are in peak season is truly a treat

Coosa River in Wetumpka. There's a few rapids but it's not tough. You can easily get by in a tube. It's about an 8 mile float from the dam to the point where you get out. Can easily float a cooler alongside and have some beers.
I take a kayak out there every once in a while.

They have water in texas? I thought all the rangers had to drink from their horse's muddy hoof print..and were damn glad to have it.

I wouldn't call those beer drinking rivers. It could be done, but it would take some skill.

Buffalo River's middle and lower sections are great easy, clear water floats. Upper Buffalo has jaw dropping natural scenery, but unless the water is right, it can be a bit of a challenge.
For the Missoureekans, I'll throw in the Elk in Noel, MO. I have been there this year.
