But that still doesn't change the fact that the 1985 Iron Bowl was the best game in the series.

Wouldn't non-AU/UA fans be better at telling us which is greatest given the criteria?

Non-Alabama fans would equate to the LSU fans on this board. They don't remember anything before the year 2000.

For Auburn fans? All of them...

1985 blurb if that is preferred:
A two loss AU team featuring Bo Jackson was beaten by a 3 loss bama team at legion field. The game was relatively uneventful until a wild 4th quarter that saw 4 lead changes with bama winning on a longfield goal as time expired. Bama finished the season ranked 13 and AU finished unranked.
You gumps hash out which replaces 1971, 1990 or 1985.
Criteria is still a combination of stakes involved and how compelling the game is.

Yeah, non AU and bama fans should be the ones to decide. Right now I'm just getting the Gump input on if they want one of theirs replaced, according to the criteria.

Yep. Kick6 aside, it was an incredible game by 2 great teams

seems like 1989 would be a big one for Auburn.
Alabama was #2 in the country and Auburn was #11.
Auburn ended an unbeaten season for Alabama. AU trailed at halftime but then just opened up a can on Alabama in the 2nd half.
i remember my step dad not being to enthusiastic about Alabama having to play in Auburn. Bill Curry's inability to beat Auburn the previous years was just a convenient excuse seemed it like.
But that Alabama squad had overachieved that year and Auburn was just starting to find themselves after they had lost a few times in the 1st half of that season.
so i could see why you would not consider it the greatest win but I'd say it was a Top 3 game.
just one guy's opinion.

Typical..Aub's relying on others to validate their relevance.

2013 without a doubt, due solely to the absolute JOY brought on by the "greatest coach in the history of NCAA football" arguing with the referees and insisting that time be put back onto the clock to allow for his weak field goal kicker to have the chance to give Davis an opportunity to run the pathetic attempt back and lose said coach any prayer of playing for the SEC championship or an MNC.
Priceless, and the goat in everyone's opinion but the Gumps and the toothless hicks from the Trailer Park on the Plains.
The rest of the country profusely thank y'all for the best laugh of the 2013 season.

Everyone will say 2013 because a) it was recent and b) it was a Bama loss, but there have been some truly great victories that really mattered in the end. You can't say that about 2013, considering how AU went on to be a NC dud (and Bama went on to be a sugar bowl dud). 2010 meant more.

1985 and you know it. Bama winning the game on a 56 yard FG as time expired.
That field goal keeps getting longer and longer as the years go by. I think they count those yards like they count National Championships.

Yea, the chance to play for and win an SEC Championship doesn't mean anything.

Not when compared against teams that did that and won the NC. Don't be so insecure, I listed 2010. You praise 2013 at the expense of 2010, which should be far ahead.

For most, no. The short attention span will immediately have them say 2013... and if you say, "2009 and 2010 were both great games too", they'll say, "Huh? I can't be bothered with anything that long ago if it didn't involve my team."
Of course, the SECCG and BCS bowl games are exceptions to that rule.
