BA-BOOM....facts and shite
While true we added a ton of depth, and Georgia's stats are tempered by having Murray. We will run the ball more this year with more depth. Expect a significan improvement in our running stats.
That is NOT to say that they will be better than SC or Mizzous. Nobody can KNOW this until the season starts, and ends.

Not sure Florida will be all the way back offensively, but I see a definite improvement. taht could be all you need. A tough schedule will keep you from winning the East, but I can see you making MAJOR noise in 2014 and then be back in 2015 making everybody's lives miserable.

I don't get the confidence in Hutson Mason.
Richt and Bobo rarely put a poor product on the field at QB. Mason steps into an offense that returns an abundance of weapons at WR/RB, an experienced TE, and guys with starting experience at both tackle positions and center. He just needs to drive the boat, so to speak, and not turn the ball over too much. The guard positions are the only open spots on O. They're are 4 guys in contention there - 2 seniors and 2 sophomores.

Dylan Thompson has more experience
This is true, but we were very fortunate Mason got some work in toward the end of last year. He got a home game, a road game and a bowl game. He performed pretty well.

dawgs are installing a new defense
There's obviously a change in the coaching staff, but it won't approach the lengthy process we experienced in 2010 when Grantham switched from 4-3 to 3-4. It's helpful that 8 of 11 starters return on D. Our front 7 lost one contributor. We should be very good up front.

overhauled secondary.
There will be a lot of new faces, but Mauger, Moore, and Swann all have significant starting experience. We just need a guy or two to step up and to stay healthy at safety. If we can get that, I think we're ok back there. We'll have the benefit of a good pass rush, a DC whose focus is coaching DBs and the SEC almost guaranteed to have putrid passing offenses this year.

Pretty sure Pruitt will turn the D around, but I don't know if it can be done in yr 1
Will be elite year 1? No, of course not.
Can he turn it around in year 1? It would be almost impossible not to. We are coming off of statistically the worst defense that UGA has ever fielded in its history. It's really not a stretch to think we'll be better in every defensive category next year almost by default.

South Carolina is going from having to play Arkansas every year to Texas A&M. Their appearance in the SEC Title game won't be very frequent.

Because we frequented Atlanta soo often while playing Arkansas all this while.
Don't flatter yourself, ag, A&M isn't the power you seem to think they are.

Still riding that bama upset 2 seasons ago.
Cock fans only rode their bama upset for one season after.

Agreed and I think Gurley is clearly the best RB in the conference. As for losing Josey and Franklin, Mauk is better then Franklin as a Freshman last year. Josey hurts but both Hansbourgh and Murphy went for 6.0+ per carry and over 600 yards each. The line will still be solid with 3 returning starters and another who started multiple games. On offense the issue for Mizzou is WR depth. Can opposing teams now sit on the running game more vs Mizzou? As you said the season will show.

Noticed you have a wrestling image for an avatar. my son wrestled in high school here in georgia and loved Mizzou wrestling. Ben Askren in particular. I used to record the NCAA finals every year so we could watch Askren wrestle. he was an animal and a LOT of un to watch. Mizzou used to have a wrestling camp in Georgia every year and my son always went.

Because Thompson isn't any better than Mason, UGA gets a bye. Our O is better and USCe lost a lot on D.
Looking at this objectively, UGA by 6pts.
Side note, its day game, equalizer at the WB.

I believe USCe shouldn't be over looked but I suspect the picks are related to USCe having to go to Auburn coming off a bye week for the Tigers and USCe having several question in the secondary and depth issue beyond the starting 5 oline. Injuries in that unit would be difficult. As well traveling to Florida.

I think it will look like this in the end
1. UGA
2. USCe
3. Florida
3. Mizz
5. Tenn
6. Kentucky
7. Vandy
Both UGA and USC have two losses but UGA beats USCe head to head

Carolina the bad:
1. Talented, but young and deep secondary.
2. No quality backup for Davis.
3. Patched 3-4 defensive line. (I don't think a 3-4 is the defense for the SEC.)
4. Quarterback "floats" too many balls. Would not surprise if Mitch is QB by end of September.
The good:
Offense is solid with decent quarterback play.
One warning: If anyone is going to get Spurrier, it better be this year.
My prediction: I have no idea. Could be another 11-2 or could be 8-4.
Georgia:
Very talented everywhere, though much of the defense is young. Marshall and Chubb make the two best understudy backs in the league.
Don't know about the quarterback and neither does anyone else.
Georgia could be anywhere from 12-1 to 8-4.
The Carolina/Georgia game is going to tell a lot. That is if USC gets by TAMU and East Carolina, a definite trap game.

Mel Kiper thinks so too. Has to be true IMO.

I did. And I'd still take Thompson over any QB in the East.

I prefer Mitch, based on reports and what I saw in the spring game. This kid may have the best arm in the SEC.
