I hate TD Ameritrade, and the current bats, and here's why

Eventually they're going to have to change something. It's killing popularity.

The winds aren't helping either, but yeah...

it's turned baseball at the CWS into what team is the luckiest, waiting for the other team to make an error, or trying to score without having the ball leave the infield. it's basically turned into college softball. even one of the guys on the committee stated if they had known the effect the new bats would have, they would have planned the new stadium differently. ironically, the first year at TDA was the first year of BBCOR bats.

The wind? Really dude? Nevermind the fact that has to do with TD Ameritrade's orientation, the facts are right there. It's not like we're only talking about this year. Three fricking homeruns last year.
Three.

Bring the fences in about 10-15 ft + new ball (goes about 15-20 ft farther)
???
Profit
Or hell just go back to the bats we used in 2010, those were absolutely perfect

Yeah dude. TD ameritrade was positioned with right field directly into prevailing winds. Your complaint was about the stadium. Prevailing winds absolutely play into that. What's your problem?

Can the players use wooden bats in college?

y'all are saying essentially the same thing. the wind being so brutal is a result the positioning of the stadium and location of the stadium as opposed to rosenblatt. ncaa tried to get too cute and corporate building the stadium with the downtown skyline visibile instead of recognizing the effect wind currents would have building the stadium that way and implementing new bat restrictions to boot the same year. extremely poor planning on their part and unfortunately not a whole lot they can do when they spent 130 million and agreed to a contract with that stadium through 2035.

no, way too expensive, would force more than half of the ncaa teams to drop baseball. not to mention, it wouldn't create any more offense with all of the factors mentioned ITT

0 home runs this year at the CWS.. I'm calling it now

Yeah, it's bad for the game right when the game could be, and should be, gaining more popularity.

I agree that the stadium is too big, etc, etc, but that's a little off.
Luck and playing error free is not the same. Also, just because there have been no home runs doesn't mean that there haven't been XBH.

haven't been many. when outfielders can play at an extremely shallow depth like they do at TDA, you narrow the gaps in the outfield and shorten the gaps between the infield and outfielders. you basically make it extremely hard to hit doubles in the gap as well as making it difficult to hit singles that aren't groundballs through the infield. the only way to have an XBH really is hitting it down the line. I can think of only two or three balls hit that went over the outfielder's head. that's just not how baseball is designed to be played. shite, vanderbilt attempted three or four bunts in the first inning against irvine. i've seen batters try to bunt for hits with 2 outs and no one on base. you basically force teams into playing small ball. that should not be a necessity to win a baseball tournament. sure, it can work for some teams, but all teams shouldn't be forced to win one specific way. the biggest flaw is the fact that pitchers do not have to worry about hitters squaring bad pitches up. they can throw meat over the middle all game and get through it without surrounding more than a couple runs.

I would rather watch World Cup Soccer over the CWS right now
There was nothing wrong with the 09/10 bats, there was no need to go to the BBCOR at all.
If not in Omaha, the crowds would be embarrassing.
Omaha has every reason to support it and will continue to do so but even the crowds at UCLA/MSU had a lot of empty seats last year.

it's possible, but i'm sure someone will eventually hit a line drive down the line for a home run eventually. regardless, the absence of any ability to hit for power is absurd.

It is absolutely ruining the game. I find myself watching less and less of the college world series without the threat of a home run.

I fail to see the difference in blaming the stadium and blaming the stadium's orientation.

Well the stadium is big, it's also oriented into the wind for the most part. Wind plays a role in baseball. I understand they go hand in hand. Chill out

Yeah but teams shouldn't have to change their whole style of play from an entire season for one tournament that should be the culmination of the sport's greatness.
