The first game was a fluke, you lose it too if not for multiple missed field goals. The second game PROVED it was a fluke.

The reason LSU people were in an uproar about the rematch was they knew Alabama was the only team that could beat them.

Exactly. In the end this is what it all boils down to. Alabama out gained LSU in that November 5 match up, they got into LSU territory many more times than LSU got into Alabama territory, with mistakes and good defense being our downfall once we got to the 30.

Had Foster made at least one additional field goal that game would have been ours. You weren't the better team. You got lucky in Tuscaloosa and Alabama showed you just how good they were on 1/9 - a game your fan base still has yet to recover from.

How have so many bama fans deluded themselves into believing this? That game was a matchup of two of two of the best college defenses EVER. There's a reason both coaches gameplan were so conservative for that game. Nick took a chance on those low percentage FGs because he knew the chances of converting a 4th down against LSU was very, very slim.

The NC, as was stated earlier in the thread, was a horribly planned game by the LSU staff. Saban and co did a fantastic job of adjusting their gameplan on O to throw LSU off balance and came in ready to defend the option (which they didn't do a good job of in the first game) and Miles never made the necessary adjustments to even be competitive in the game.

ETA: calling it a fluke win for LSU is a serious disservice to those 2 defenses.
