I don't know too much about the unit and would like to be educated.

Returning starters?
Experienced players?
Solid depth?
Incoming studs?
Weaknesses?
Strengths?

Many thanks

58 - Justin Senior (So.)

63 - Dillion Day (Sr.)
66 - Ben Beckwith (Sr.)
70 - Justin Malone (Jr.)
71 - Cole Carter (So.)
73 - Jocquell Johnson (Jr.)
74 - Kent Flowers (RFr.)
75 - Blaine Clausell (Sr.)
76 - Jake Thomas (RFr.)
77 - Rufus Warren (Jr.)
78 - Damien Robinson (Sr.)
Deion Calhoun (Fr.)
Ronald Cochran (Fr.)
Jordan Harris (Fr.)
Elgton Jenkins (Fr.)

Guys in bold will see the most minutes.

We have a pretty solid starting 5, but after that the talent gap is pretty substantial.

Jesus Christ, there is absolutely no way Rufus Warren sees any time on the field whatsoever this year.

And unless Day gets hurt, neither will Devon Desper.

Jocquell Johnson, Jamaal Clayborne, and justin senior should all see significant playing time.

I wonder sometimes if you keep up with our football team at all.

tbh, I just highlighted his name because......well.....his name is Rufus

ETA: to be frank with you, I rarely give two shits about OL. I'm more of a skills player enthusiast myself, mainly because there are a few from Louisiana that could have big impacts next year and years to come...i.e. J-Rob, Damien Williams, Dak Prescott, Shelby Christy.

Are y'all expecting the unit to be top half?

Is it a strength of your team this season or a weakness like ours probably is?

This unit, and especially their backups, will have to play over their heads good if we're going to do what Palmer thinks we're gonna do this year.

I believe in Dak and our RB's to do it, our defense will be stout, but OL will always make or break you.

It will be a solid group. Not a strength, not a weakness.

That is of course unless there are some injuries and then all bets are off.

I'm expecting Jake Thomas to be a surprise this year.

Returning starters?

5 returners with at least one game of starting experience. 4 with notable starting experience...

That's:
Clausell - 29 starts
Day - 34 starts
Beckwith - 12 starts
Malone - 5 starts
Senior - 1 start

quote:

Experienced players?

The 5 above all have alot of experience -- as does Clayborn, Muniz, and Robinson.

Overall GP, we have:
Day 39
Robinson 38
Muniz 37
Beckwith 36
Clausell 36
Malone 14
Senior 11
Carter 11
Clayborn 6

quote:

Solid depth?

The above plus Kent Flowers, Jake Thomas, and Devon Desper...

quote:

Incoming studs?

Jocquell Johnson is prob the only incoming guy we'll see this year. We went from Sherrod to Clayborn between playing true freshmen at the position -- and Johnson is the only JUCO...

quote:

Weaknesses?

Depth at center is a potential issue -- and they've been very coy about how injured Day was this spring. I think we've got a solid 5 -- and an extra solid guard and tackle, maybe 2 extras at each spot, but I have no idea what we would do at center without Day...

If Day is seriously injured he is not saying anything about it on his twitter feed.

Yeah -- Paul talked to the strength coach and/or Day about it and heard that he was basically fine...

if they can go through the year without injury then I expect them to be more than serviceable. this is certainly not a Bama OLine, but our starters can play.

if we do see significant injuries then we will have issues.

I can vouch for this.

In addition, if an experienced player on the line went down in Spring with an injury and you didn't have a lot of depth in that position, wouldn't you want to keep him out so he could get healthy and also for growth in the depth in that position? Just thinking about it from another perspective.
