My discussing a topic in a thread doesn't, by default, correlate to my need for you to like Johnny Manziel.
I promise.
You are a smart guy. But the polarization that has gone on with this guy for 2 years must render some statistically significant measure for you to say to yourself, "hmmmmm, maybe these folks that think he is an asshat could be right".....Can you think of anyone in the last 10 years in college football that has had as much positive yet negative attention to one player?

And I don't see anyone here having a problem with people having that opinion

As you know, correlation does not equal causation .
My suggestion would be to rerun the data using some kind of regression analysis ... and follow-up with very conservative post hoc tests :).

Truth be told, the answer(s) to your research question would probably most appropriately be answered with qualitative methods--in particular, interviews, focus groups, and maybe some mixed-methods survey data to get at perceptions.

Sounds like a study to me. Now go find us a funding agency.
