And Gus Malzahn was smart enough to notice the situation, call a timeout, and stick one of the best punt returners in the SEC back there.

I agree with this. The Iron Bowl play was taking advantage of an opportunity. The DSOR play was too, but in more of a "oh shite the football happened to just get tipped directly into my hands behind the defense" sort of way.
