Why do people and writers from St. Louis (not all, but most) hate Mizzou?

No idea, but it's more fact than fiction.

Good question. It's a wonder that Mizzou even has fans in St Louis based on some of the mizzou coverage I've seen from there.

That hook is shiney.
And you are trolling your own board. For shame my brother, for shame.
ETA: Screw it. It's so quite in here you could hear a figurative mouse take a figurative shite

Part of it as far as media is it just feels that way b/c STL is the biggest city in MO and we don't have a standard of comparison to other big city media in the state except KC, and any time negativity comes out of there we can all just shrug and say "meh, Beakers, whatchagonnado."
Fact is, even when writers or sports radio guys int the STL say negative or polarizing stuff about Mizzou *they are still paying attention to Mizzou* which is the biggest factor in big city markets and says most about how your program stacks up.
Consider - as big and influential as the University of Texas is, does it even come *close* to owning the Dallas-Fort Worth media market even compared to other colleges much less sports talk in general? Oh hellz no. Even OU and Okie State get lots and lots of run in the media there. Ask an Illini fan what the Chicago media (and people in Chicago generally) situation is like for them. In terms of both overall attention paid and in terms of amount of good publicity, Mizzou gets much more of both per capita in STL than the University of Illinois ever has and ever will get in Chicagoland. And don't even bother telling our STL sob stories to a fan of some NY or Cali program who lives in NYC or LA.
STL has 2 million peeps in its metro area. A lot of them are Mizzou fans. A lot of them are not. Some of the ones who are not actually hate Mizzou. Such is life. But its par for the course in larger cities.

One thing that can't be overlooked is the fact that media everywhere latches onto negative stories.
Negativity sells.
That said, the Post has it out for Mizzou. It's weird.
Dave Matter has a different feel now that he's at the Post.
-----
Unrelated. But does anyone else think it's weird that almost every sports article on the Post has some glaring grammatical error?
A misspelled word, double word, missing word ect.
I can understand these guys fire out articles, but you'd think they'd re-read it once and make the correction.
It's not like they're part timers, they're supposed to be professionals.
-------
What do people think of alternative sites like Vivaelbirdo. For the most part these are volunteers, as I understand it, yet their stuff is more creative and better quality.

People in St Louis like Mizzou. Maybe not as much as Kansas City or Columbia, but I think youre over-exaggerating. It can be shown by how many parents are sending their kids there per year, the amount is actually ridiculous. Also, sports wise, there is quite a bit of fan support in STL. St Louis is just filled with shitty writers, that shouldnt be representative of the fans or regular people there.

Catholics hate public educational systems? I don't think they hate Mizzou but more than likely hate Mizzou sports because they are commies and nerds who got beat up by jocks in HS. Plus it's cool within their wine and cheese pretentious crowd to hate sports.

Yeah. The press and public vibe is so bad over here that we're grabbing four stars like Andy Bauer and Ray Wingo and have established a pipeline into East St. Louis.
But by all means, carry on.

Those who don't live in SWMO may have missed the irony of this question being asked by a guy from Springfield.
