Well, you missed the point on that one. I never stated the cops were to blame here, just that it's asinine to issue warrants based off a traffic/parking violation. Anything you can pay a fine for and not have to go to court to settle should not be an arrestable offense. It's pretty much debtors prison at that point.

no it's not. i've worked in state court. if you can't afford the fine, i've seen up to 5 continuances granted. judges also frequently will let people do community service instead of pay a fine. all you have to do is show up to court when you're supposed to show up. it's not a difficult concept, and it isn't just the government being assholes.
