You could make a compelling argument that income inequality contributes to this.

I have no problem with wealthy people but it needs to have some relation to what they contribute. And Vols wealth building line of questioning adds nothing to that discussion

Or an even more compelling one, that Gov't creates the situations for increased poverty and rewards people to make less. Hell, they spend millions in Mexico, advertising how to come and get on Gov't programs.

I agree with that, opposite sides of the same coin.

What, you're asking for everyone to be on an hourly wage? Never known anyone who climbed to a higher income bracket working less than 10 hours a day. I've never worked a salary that was less than 12 hours a day.

I argue the size and power of the government is to thank for that. Too much money and too much influence. So of course those with money want to rig the game. The corruption is the best picture of this imo.

They contribute with jobs for others. Dictating what anyone does with their wealth, is nothing short of getting to: to each according to his ability, to each according to his needs type of thinking. And having said that, it's unreal, how many people agree with that today, not having a clue as to who said it and what it leads to.

instill a work ethic into folks first, rather than demonize those that do produce. Imho, of course.

I'm not talking about people on the government dime. I'm talking about working people who have seen their wages stagnate.

Absolutely. I blame the politicians more than businesses myself. They are the ones that have the power to do and undo things. Their corruption is the problem.

Or the opposite when talking about the financial industry. The de-regulation of the banking industry in the late 70's into the 80's, and again in the late 90's has contributed a great deal to the problem.

The current system surely needs some fixing. I think it starts with education and ends with people remembering what the american dream was meant to be originally - the opportunity to work hard and provide food, shelter, and opportunity for your family.

There are more of them than not now.

Maybe if they weren't having their wealth redistributed through bogus healthcare, wasteful taxes, etc.. they'd be able to invest more. I also question those who would say or state, my situation hasn't improved under (insert politician). My question is this.. what have you done to improve your situation or wealth? Did you work longer hours, get a 2nd job, learn to invest better? Goes back to thinking you're owed something just for being a warm body. You have to earn and take what you want. If you wait for it to be given, or sit around waiting on someone to choose you, you'll always be wondering why you're being passed.

The Constitution guarantees the pursuit of happiness. It doesn't guarantee it. Sometimes, ones stupidity gets in the way.

Too much money and too much influence. It takes some substantial morals to resist the allure. I'm not giving the pols or business a pass, but humans will human.

Yeah it sucks. Making it extremely hard to move up. Plus current employers can just burden you with the work of 2 or 3 people and say take it or leave it.

I don't know if the number of applications per job has gone down or not...but the job I currently have a few hundred applied for it. Granted, I am sure some were just people applying for anything.

Are you asking that in general or me directly?

The current regulation crackdowns and bailouts of the major banks are crushing small banks. This is rigging of a different sort but it is still rigging.

This is what I have a problem with. People who are working even harder for the same or less money, that is if the company is doing well.

Absolutely, I have said before a big part of freedom is the freedom to frick up and have to deal with the consequences and pick yourself back up.
