Missouri did it last year too. Goes to show you how badly the East has fallen off that it's happened 3 times

That is certainly a big part of it, well the South Carolina thing anyway, they've been historically terrible which makes their last 4-5 years very impressive.

LSU replaced Arkansas circa 2000, which produced an oddity that may never be repeated.
Mississippi State defeated both SEC Championship participants (Florida and Auburn) without making the championship game.
They lost to LSU that year, starting a 14-year streak. That might have been the problem.

If the listed teams would STFU and win it then this thread wouldn't be needed.

Yeah Stoerner most likely gagged away a national title shot in bizarre fashion.
They lost to MSU the very next week 22-21, almost certainly still very deflated from the week before. Definitely one of those "let the same game beat you twice" situations.
Had they beat UT they likely crush MSU and roll undefeated into a rematch with UT in the SEC title game.
Who knows how that would have played out, ifs and butts.

Ole Miss will be your 2014 SEC champion.
There is no need to be upset.

Since expansion only once has any of those teams managed to go 3-0 against the "big 3" of the West (Alabama, Auburn, LSU).

Only because Ole Miss can't fricking beat Bama. The other two, no problem. Bama...frick Bama.

I dunno. I consider USC as part of the Big 3 in the East these days.
USC
UGA
*Insert decent showing team for whatever year here*

Ole Miss has beat Auburn four times in the past two decades.
Five times in the past four decades.
You define that as "no problem?"

Compared to us not having beaten Alabama in the last 90, I'd define it as that.
