Only school affected in the SEC.

Hope so, then they can drop football and pull out of the SEC.

Why do you want Vandy out of the SEC?

I hope so. They kicked our arse this year.

I don't, that was harsh. Sorry Vandy. Something drastic needs to happen like that though to stop this nonsense. Hopefully it gets shot down in the appeals court, and if not hopefully Northwestern shuts down football and puts a stop to it.
Sorry again Commodores.

Last week, Northwestern University's president emeritus said that if the football players were successful forming a union, he could see the prestigious private institution giving up Division I football.
"If we got into collective bargaining situations, I would not take for granted that the Northwesterns of the world would continue to play Division I sports," Henry Bienen said at the annual conference for the Knight Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics. He further said that if the players won their fight, private institutions with high academic standards -- he specifically cited Duke and Stanford -- could abandon the current model in order to preserve academic integrity.

Will Duke give up basketball?
Where else will Coach K make $7.25 million?
That would make Rick P the highest paid coach.

Incorrect, as the only private school in the SEC the folks afford the WHOLE conference the umbrella of protection from the sunshine laws. Lose your private schools, and your conferences could fall quickly.

We could just re-add Sewanee and call it a day in that case

While I personally would love to have Sewanee back in the SEC, that ship has sailed and Vanderbilt is the more valuable property both financially and historically (without VU and UK, there would be no SEC in the first place)

How is Vandy the only affected school? It was the Federal (and I might add liberal) National Labor Relations Board that made the decision. Did you pay attention, I said "Federal". That means Obama's power is going to stretch out over all schools, especially Public ones. Obama wants as many voting unions as he can establish.

Because the NLRB has no jurisdiction over public schools

You need to do your homework. The NLRB is an independent agency of the Federal Government charged with regulating ALL labor practices deemed unfavorable by the U.S. government. And despite what the official from Northwestern stated, do you think taxpayers are going to accept paying the escalating salaries of football players enrolled at Public Universities? I guarantee when the union and lawyers get involved those salaries are headed north.
