Nobody sane thought it had any chance of passing anyway.

It's just getting the ball rolling on the subject though.

If college football continues it's march towards arena video game football expect to see actual things happen in the future.

Next year when Saban brings it back up people will laugh twice as hard. Also everyone will be ready so he can't backdoor it in again without a debate. Plus Saban and Bret have shown they aren't very good with coming up with evidence to support their claims.

The more things change the less likely the rule will ever pass. The number of people for the change isn't even at 20%.

Is this the avenue you woudl have chosen to 'get the ball rolling?'

Obviously, I hope that if there is data to suggest it's dangerous the public perception of how this handled doesn't play into a vote that may ultimately come, but I highly doubt that eveyone can just turn their back and consider this proposed rule fresh next year without remembering the absurdity of trying to slip it in this year.
