Most Georgia posters on these boards think their program is cleaner than Vanderbilt and they aren't joking.
No we don't. Cleaner than many schools, sure. Especially Auburn. We are a long damn way from clean though.
I mean, we landed Isaiah Crowell. Does anyone really think that Bama, Clemson, Auburn, etc weren't willing to pay him? Of course they were! Now, does anyone really think that he loved UGA so much that he turned all their money down to come be a Dawg for free? He has a kid, hell no he didn't do that, we coughed up something for him for sure.

Whatever happened with the DJ Fluker story? He was getting paid while at Bama by a former Bama player yet not a peep after it first broke?

I think UGA is cleaner than most. If they were dirtier then Bama or Aub they would lock down the state.

Julio drove an SUV that was about 7 years old that practically anyone could afford and his mom worked at KFC in Foley the whole time he was at Bama and even after he left school and was drafted. I used to see her in there weekly hammering on LSU AND Aub fans.
Also, it is not illegal, surprising, or exclusive to Bama that a dealership would extend a loan to a player like Julio that would not require payments to begin until after he would be in the NFL.

Exactly. Who really thinks that Richt is going to just let his coaches run wild? I wish he would a bit more, tbqh, but that good, Christian man thing he does is not an act. He is very disconnected from any sort of cheating that goes on, just like Saban at Bama and Miles at LSU. Not too many HCs have a damn thing to do with the cheating.

Most of the locals in the Foley Coffee Shop, where we had breakfast everyday, felt a prominent, local Oklahoma booster gave him the SUV but I'm sure everynone was giving stuff to Julio by that time.

It's usually not the coaches who are the problem, and I don't believe for one second that Richt has tighter control on UGA boosters than any of the other high profile programs.

All major programs have ways of supporting CERTAIN players. Georgia is not blatant with their cheating, but I believe they cheat. Bama is more blatant and more open about it. The money is laundered before it gets to KEY players. Auburn cheats, but we have never been able to outbid Bama for key players. (Yeldon comes to mind). The Flucker, Ttowns, house sitting, etc compare to the HBO 4.
I am 100% convince we did NOT pay Cecil for many reasons, the NCAA performed a colonoscopy and found nothing, every major news agency tried to find even a shred of evidence, our rivals tried to find evidence, Cecil is not smart enough to hide that much money. Also the only facts were that only MSU boosters had conversations with Cecil, did they ever agree to pay him? No, so why would we pay? If this had been an Auburn vs Bama discussion, I would have been worried.
Everyone cheats and if someone thinks otherwise, they are being naive at best.
Bama doesn't cheat nearly as much as you think, they don't have to. As an AU fan you may not like it, but guess what? They are Bama, they don't have to pay players as much as many other teams to convince them to come there when you have the sustained success they've had. I hate it too, it doesn't help UGA, but it is the way things are.
If you are really 100% convinced of that btw, then I am 100% convinced that you've got your head in the sand. Maybe you didn't pay him, but the evidence certainly insinuates that you did, it just doesn't prove it. NCAA couldn't look nearly as hard as you think, it is EASY to hide stuff from them, they don't have subpoena power. All Cecil had to do was simply not give them the info they needed. I agree he isn't smart enough to hide that money (I'm shocked he can actually tie his shoes), but you don't actually think he was the person tasked with hiding it, do you?
Why would AU pay for Cam? Because MSU was willing to pay too and you wanted him. Hell, MSU HAD him, most of those with any sort of connection at the time was hearing that he was done to MSU a couple weeks before his commitment, go ahead put him on the commit list. Auburn isn't pulling him on reputation alone if those reported amounts were really involved. Honestly, the fact that MSU was going to pay him that much and he did end up going to AU is all the proof you should need that AU did pay up.

quote:Not really! It came out during the Jan Kemp trial around 1983 or 1984 that Vince Dooley was recruiting players who couldn't even read and write and the mutts still kept him as their athletic director for 15 or 20 more years afterward.
Cleaner than many schools, sure
If Auburn or Alabama did something like that, people would never shut up about it. Nobody seems to really care about Georgia cheating because you haven't won many championships in the last 25 or 30 years anyway
You can also let me know when two separate people in two separate cases testify in federal court about Auburn cheating

It is usually the boosters, but there are teams in which the coaches are actually involved.
My point though was that if Richt did let his coaches just go nuts, the borders to Georgia would indeed be locked down. Everyone would be getting UGA's scrap (other than legacies) if Pruitt/Bobo/Rocker/McClendon/Lilly were just cruising around the state handing out cash.

If you think that the aftereffects of the Jan Kemp trial didn't change the way things were done at UGA, then you are not nearly as informed on the subject as you'd like to believe.

If they were dirtier then Bama or Aub they would lock down the state.
If you talk about recent years, Georgia is one of the few programs who is still able to rack in a top 10 class yearly or almost yearly without having a national championship to show off

Not a doubt in my mind. We do it too, it's just Ole Miss doesn't seem to care about hiding it

How many players has Alabama landed from GA that had a commitable offer from UGA? Not hardly ANY

I also don't buy into the bs about Richt being the second coming of Jesus Christ and being incapable of doing anything wrong. I know Georgia fans and even some other people buy into it, but I do not
