Religion as it is -- is not compatible with aliens. Either the Earth was made in 7 days (six) and made for humanity to eventually fall and then accept Jesus as their savior -- or it's all bull and humans aren't the focal point of the universe.
And if anyone pays any attention to the Kepler Mission, it's impossible to say we're alone. Highly, highly likely that aliens exist. Intelligent? Maybe not. There? Certainly so. Our planet is a harsh environment, but places with methane are better suitors for life -- an interesting topic for discussion is one of Jupiter's Moons (Europa). There's a damn good chance that life could exist even outside of the habital zone given the correct circumstances.

The bible is full of visitors from the heavens.

the fact that we haven't had any visitors means no other civilization could be that more advanced than us.. i think that makes sense
I disagree, us finding intelligent life and vice versa would be akin to finding a needle in a haystack. The cosmos are so vast and intelligent life so sparse that, even after discovering travel at lightspeed or warp or etc, finding intelligent life is not a given. There are still life forms on our own planet that we're still discovering.

Who is to say that we would ever know a time traveler if we saw one?
Haven't you seen the movie Millenium, bro?
Just started a thread for ya...

My feelings about this parallel the way people view the ability to travel back in time. That if it were possible, why have we had no visitors from the future.

Europa could certainly support life, I think even Io can too
Maybe the aliens live in Antarctica where it's more like Europa and no one frick with em

I think it's pretty obvious that we aren't alone in the Universe but the odds of us running across intelligent alien life are slim. I think they exist but doubtful that either one of us can actually travel to the other solar system.

And this here is the significant problem. If humans were to completely die out in, let's just say 5,000 more years -- that'd mean that modern humans as we know it have existed for about 20,000 years. And modern as a means of agriculture and sharing ideas, not hunter gatherers.
The universe as we know it has existed for a little over a dozen billion years, which means that our race would have died 700,000 times.
Which means that super intelligent forms of life could have existed and died hundreds of thousands of times over, or that we will die before they even begin.
It's a cold fricking universe, and I really hope we can achieve a level of being able to survive galactic catastrophe to keep our race alive and eventually dominate reality.
'Cause Jesus told meh.

It is possible that an advanced alien civilization using something like an Alcubierre drive has already visited our solar system. If they are that advanced, they could have an advaned stealth technology, which would make them undetectable.
If like us, an alien civilization would send out a probe ahead of a "manned" mission. We have barely explored our solar system, there might be one out there. If they have an advanced nanotechnology, we likely would not detect it.
One problem is that we really don't know what to look or listen for. Assuming radio telescopes could detect an alien transmission, could we even recognize it?
They may already have visited in the past and concluded there is no intelligent life on Earth. We agree that an ant is life, but we don't bother trying to communicate with one. They might likewise feel its pointless even trying to communicate with us.

One requires as much faith as the other, wouldn't you say? There is and has been absolutely no indictations or proof that alien life exists beyond this planet. To believe so, would take an act of faith, would it not? And to believe that the advancements of man in the last 100 yrs, has given us the ability to understand and know to great certainties about the Universe, would imo, be a larger case of narcissism, than to believe a Diety created us.
There is proof that there is other life out there, and the proof is.......EARTH!! Look at the laws of nature, not what is written in a book (religions). Look at life on earth, it exists in almost every environment on Earth, from cold temps to very high; the water, land and sky. We are proof b/c if we exist as a result of long arse evolutionary timeline. Humans are not special or chosen as the only life in the universe, as some books would have you to believe. Therefore the natural evolutionary process that allows life to form on Earth, will present itself to other habitable planets as well. There are millions of different animal species on Earth, thats not even counting the plants and fungi. So much diversity, so why would it only be limited to Earth, and not continue this diversity throughout the universe?

Also I think aliens has visited us before.
Ever heard of the Nazca Lines? They are ancient drawings that can only really be seen from flying in the sky.
There are several more other animals and they are over 190 sq mile area.
Here is a pic of what looks like a runway, but humans were not able to build flying machines until recently.
If not a runway, then what purpose would this serve? Here is a mountain top close to the Nazca lines that is completely flat. How could this happen, and did humans do it?
These lines only make sense when see from high in the sky, so they really serve no purpose to anyone on land, and in that time period that would be everyone human.

Ok so no one liked my Dulce,NM example. What about a few years back when NASA dropped those bombs on the moon. Do you really think it was to study the bomb craters to see if there were ice crystal there.

Actually, we're like chimps a long time before us, some creatures evolved to a much more advanced species, left the planet, and now keep us as a zoo

I tried to look more up on the Dulce, NM incident, but couldn't find much. You got some more info on it?

Google Phil Schneider He was the lone survivor. He ended up being strangled with his own catheter for running his mouth off about it.

My questioning is, why would the 'greys' need our help or want to team up w/ us? Also if we broke our treaty w/ them in '79, then why haven't we funded a war on them?

I don't really know the particulars of everything and I don't know if there is a book or not. I am trying to find out some more on it right now. If you find a book about it if you don't mind put it in this thread. What strikes me is he was disfigured as a result of the battle. What did they do with the shafts they had sunk? Did they just fill them in with concrete and abandon the site or what.

And one other thing apparently there is more than one kind and some are hostile and other are benevolent.

I have heard of it, but I always put it down to jitters and fear of the Japs. I didn't know of the UFO angle and certainly had no idea someone took a pic.
