Roger Goodell is considering making changes in the NFL. One proposal for the NFL calls for an automatic seven points for a touchdown. You could then go for an extra point by running or passing the ball for the eighth point.

I think it would be a good idea because extra points are made 99% of the time. I came up with a few ideas that might add some excitement to the extra point(s). Keep a touchdown at six points.
Then for the extra point(s) give the offensive team a few options:

Move the extra point attempt to a 30 or 35 yard kick to add some suspense.

Keep the two point try at three yards.

Create a three point conversion attempt from the twenty yard line for the offense.

Create a four point attempt from mid- field for a hail-mary attempt.

What say you?

Keep it how it is and worry about slowing down hurry up offenses.

Make them go for 2 each time

ETA. Just realized this could be against player safer since it would be another play. This can't work then

don't stop there.

5 point attempt from your own 40.

6 point attempt from your own 20.

add another 7 if you attempt from your own 5 yard line and you get another attempt at extra points, which could conceivably continue indefinitely if you continue to go for it from your own 5.

Yes there should be a change. The defense never should have been allowed to score on an "extra" point. Dumbest rule ever.

I say nobody gives a frick what you think.

Since you want to make silly changes to the XP; what's next, have the kick hit a moving target for add'l points?

Wow..You're an angry little man. Such passion from an extra point thread. You must have a very small penis.

No, that is not Goodells rule proposal. It's an auto 7 for a TD if you want. It is 6 if you choose to go for 2. Otherwise everyone would go for 2 after the 7.

I think it'd be cool to make the XP more like rugby where you kick it however far back you want but it has to be in line with where the ball crossed the goal line. Have some incentive for getting the TD in the middle.

Angry? Not hardly....

But, you must be really insecure to play the "penis size" card.

Is that the best you can do?

Either make them try to get in the end zone for 1 or make the kicks from 40 yards. The XPs should only count as 1 because 2 of them shouldn't be worth more than a FG. It would make the extra points a lot more important to the game and mean more when you actually get them. Kind of like in OT when you have to go for 2.

Or you could push the kicks back far enough and make the kicks and conversions both worth 1. Some teams would go for the conversion if their kicker sucks or their offense is really good.

I think if it's not broke we don't need to fix it.

New rules every year seems to be the trendy thing now. I wish they would just leave everything the frick alone.

I say football is fine as it is. Why tamper with something that works, including the HUNH?

Just a few words to describe that man who's actions in the NFL have trickled down to college. Him and Mark Emmert need to like.....have their legs broken.
