Player safety issue, pretty cut and dry.

No. It's a medical issue.

Athletes need to be properly examined and then conditioned to play the game.

Fatasses and players with heart problems should probably do other things.

Playing football is not for everyone.

how many times will bert try to get is passed?

will he go 0-8 in that endeavor as well?

dunno

I do know that bert is sticking to his guns even though he's come under a lot of fire. A lot of lesser men would have wilted and went with the group think. He knows what he believes and is sticking to it. good for him. makes me proud we got a coach who's not afraid to take on the established way of doing things

And men with any sort of self respect would have never done this in the first place.

Sticking to your guns doesnt always make one noble, sometimes it just makes you the lone retard.

Q: Some say there’s no hard evidence, no data, what would be your reaction to that?

A: “Death certificates. There’s no more I need than that. If I sit there in a home and I recruit a young man and I tell him and his parents, ‘Hey, I’m going to look out for the personal well being of your son academically and athletically, I’m never going to put him in harms way. Oh, by the way, he also has the sickle-cell trait and if he is involved in a game that I can’t get him out of, what am I supposed to do?”

Cut and dried... Don't recruit and play young men with health issues.

The same thing you do to a player who turns an ankle.

Standing alone on a bed of hot coals doesnt make you a trailblazer. There's a reason nobody is joining you.

I mean, it's a whole extra 70 something plays for the extra game

maybe an extra 140+ plays for two

so if it's about player safety, he'll turn those risky playoffs down if asked

or turn down the SECCG (lol) if they win the west

Bert taking Arky to the playoff would qualify as one of the greatest turn of events in the history of college football.

It isnt so much that Arky sucked last year (they did) butt that they were never given a chance in most games. His schemes are mind numbingly simplistic.

So to summarize what's happening, bert is being proactive with the rule change. He see's how the HUNH can be dangerous to athletes.

Whereas the HUNH proponents would rather wait and see the injuries start piling up and possible deaths before they change the rule.

Delusional isn't a strong enough word to describe you.

If a player were to somehow die from exhaustion-related causes, it wouldn't be the fault of the HUNH. He should have never been playing football in the first place. Should marathons be cut in half so that runners with only one lung can compete. Shut the frick up with this sycophantic shite.

Sickle Cell Trait info

quote:

People with sickle cell trait rarely have symptoms. Testing positive for sickle cell trait doesn't mean that you need to have treatment or make changes in your activities.

But in rare cases, a person with sickle cell trait may have muscle pain or other serious health problems. These problems can happen under certain extreme conditions, such as intense exercise, overheating, or being at a high altitude.

If you exercise intensely or are a competitive athlete, you can take precautions to help prevent complications:1 Drink plenty of fluids, especially during intense activities. Increase your level of performance gradually. Stop right away if you feel muscle pain, weakness, fatigue, or breathlessness.

Work with your doctor and coaches to create a plan to prevent complications. Know what to do if you have problems.

Seems pretty simple to me....

1) Don't recruit athletes that have it, if you don't know how to proceed with caution.

2) If you have these kids, and they are playing, the team doctors should have them prepared, and they should know what to look for. Therefore, they can fall to the ground, and get an injury timeout.

The coaches/medical staff know the exact kids that have the trait. If they are playing, get them prepared. If you cannot prepare them, don't recruit them.

hawg knows what he's doing, even the Hog fans are talking about how they realize this isnt really about safety on their own board.

They are basically down with pathological lying just to troll Auburn.
