Apparently, the famous "Ike's Tree" suffered so much damage in the ice storm that it had to be removed........

For those that don't know, this Pine on the 17th fairway at Augusta National is probably the most famous tree in all of golf.
Sad Times.

I can almost bet every needle from that tree hit the big shredder just so nothing like this happens.

If you've never heard it called "Ike's Tree", then it is 100% safe to say........ that you don't know what the hell you're talking about......

I heard they were gonna replace it with one that looked exactly the same, but Austin Rhoads did some investigative reporting and figured it out on Facebook.
And I remember when I was a kid and worked on the grounds crew they made us use hand spades to dig ditches for the irrigation system so as not to cut any of the roots.

I'm SOOO looking forward to walking up in a group of 40 people gathered around an empty spot on the left side of 17 next year talking about a tree none of them had ever seen

You sound like a tourist regurgitating factoids from a pamphlet.
Meanwhile.......anybody who knows anything about the course or the tournament would know that the tree has been referred to as "Ike's Tree" since before you were probably born.......

When the facts become inconvenient people often resort to name calling.
