Don't see Marshall redshirting unless he has a serious setback over the summer. He should be full speed again by August.

No point in RSing him. He won't be here for a 5th year anyway so if he can play, play him, even if that's not until later in the season.

Don't forget that he and Gurley were freshmen two seasons ago. And look who we have coming in as freshmen. He has the motivation to get better for sure!

He won't redshirt, he's too good. The whole bird in the hand thing. Chubb and Michel by all accounts should be studs, but the fact is we dont' KNOW anything at all about how they'll perform in the SEC. We do know what Keith can do, and we know he's excellent. If Gurley were to get hurt again, would you really feel 100% confident going to douglas/green/a true freshman? I wouldn't necessarily. I would however feel confident with Marshall.
Also, KM doesn't strike me as the leave early type, so I imgaine we'll still have him for 2 more years. Might as well play him.

The bigger question I have is...will he be the same? Tearing an ACL is a big deal. Some will say guys are never the same. Don't get me wrong, I am hoping and praying for a full recovery, but I believe that mentally, it becomes a bit of a fear factor, especially to RB's. Here is to hoping it s a full recovery mentally and physically.

To be perfectly honest with you, I don't think so. Now that's not to say he's gonna suck, because 100% KM could have started for probably 100 teams in America. But like you said the mental aspect is a dangerous thing. Still, our chances of winning football games in 2014 are much better with KM than without him.

Uhm...dont think mentally it will affect him. You got to remember that these are 19-20 year old kids that have no fear and he will work even harder to get back. He also has a future in the NFL and fear will get you killed. He will be as good or better than before...Book it

first of all, it's extremely common for athletes to not be exactly the same after a major knee injury. It absolutely could affect him, we don't know. Second, the fact that it's a 19-20 year old kid makes it MORE likely to affect him. He is young and is only halfway through his college career. He no doubt has dreams of playing in the NFL one day. You don't think it's remotely possible that he might play it safe a play or two per game with that hanging in the back of his mind?

I just don't see much opportunity for him unless he changes positions. #1 and 2 are completely cemented into granite. I appreciate Douglas and Green, but talent wise they aren't in the same league as Chubb/Michel. They do have game experience though and a few big plays to their credit.
I just don't see how or when AJ would get any carries.

I do. It's human nature and probably accounts for Clowney's mediocre performance last season even without an injury. It's a fine balance between on field performance that enhances your draft stock and not taking risks that might lead to a career ending injury. I don't envy Marshall's situation in that regard. Here's wishing only the best for him.

I'd bet he gets alot of the clean up duty and crap game service if we have that opportunity this season. At least to prove himself and if I'm CMB I'd be very curious to see what he can do.

He never had a lot of lateral movement to begin with so it shouldn't affect his play much. Mostly he just outruns people.

I don't think he will redshirt becuase I don't see any benefit to it, but if he did he would be 5th year. I don't think he will have enough carries in 1 more year to raise his draft stock enough to leave any earlier.

not sure how many running backs I have seen come through Athens who were supposed to be world beaters that didnt really impress....no way that these new pups should even touch the ball this season when we have Gurley, Marshall, Greene, and Douglas....

They freakin better...I DO NOT want to start the season with Douglass and Greene as our 3 and 4 RB's on the depth chart.Neither is a capable SEC caliber RB...Greene
has some talent but maybe in the slot or on the other side of the ball...and yes,I'll take my chances with 2 highly recruited freshman over both of em.Typically
RB is the easiest posistion for a freshamn to make the
transistion from HS so we should know pretty quick about both of em.

Douglas' role is and will always be coming in during the 4th qtr against a tired defense and maintain drives...he does come in earlier to spell someone, but his best asset is getting 3rd downs in teh 4th qtr with a lead.
