Pissed at the weather folks. Looks like I might have to spend the night at the office. 280 eastbound is a friggin' nightmare from what I can see.
Yep. Friend just said there were so many abandoned cars going up Double Oak Mt, it's nearly impassable.
I'm staying at the office, and looks like the kids are spending the night at school.

Took me 2 1/2 hours to get home, but that's only because I know all the shortcuts. Only slid through one turnoff. Just glad we're all home safe. Tons of kids are gonna be sleeping at schools for the nights. Lots of superintendents have a bunch of explaining to do. Unfortunately, my mom is stuck in traffic on an impassable road a couple miles from her house. She may have to park the car and hoof it.

Normally takes me 30 minutes from office to house. I left the office at 1:45. It is now 4:30, and I'm about 3-4 miles from my house and it will probably be another couple of hours

Birmingham can figuratively suck my dick.
I live in Southside and my son is at a school downtown. Normally takes less than 20 minutes on the roundtrip. Took over four hours, before I eventually parked downtown and he and I walked the last 1.5 miles home.

Wife (who finally was able to get the little one from school) parked at the bottom of the hill (where all the cars/trucks were pilled up in ditches from the folks trying and go up or down it) and they hiked up and over to the house.
Cool lady.
Everyone is home. Chili is brewing. Gonna kick back for da night with the fam.

Hoover and surrounding schools have about 2000 kids and teachers spending the night at the schools. Not good. Picked kids up today on 4 wheeler.

Wife and I both had to hike home. So we have no vehicles but at least we're safe.

Left work at 11:50..walked through garage door at 5:45. Spent a few hours on a flat spot between hills before being pulled out and stopping to help others.

My roommate never made it. She ended up walking to a friend's house to stay the night. This was a crazy day.

What's with all the people on social media posting crap like "Don't talk bad about the local meteorologists! They're only human!" They get paid to make sure shite like this doesn't happen. I mean, hell, they made schools close a few weeks ago just because it was cold. How do you miss a mini-blizzard?

I live up 59 from bham in ashville. We got around 3 inches up here, maybe 4 on top of straight mountain. I had a blast driving around today but I'm probably the only guy in the county with snow rated a/ts on his SUV. Plus having lived in Ohio and north Dakota.
All the weather guys whiffed horribly on this. 3 inches is a dusting in Minnesota, not here. Roads here were almost impassable with all the wrecks. I'm sure it was worse with all the traffic and idiots in bham. Schools being open was the biggest disaster in all of this. Not sure what they were thinking. Then again this state never prepares well for this sort of thing.
My uncle, who grew up in Washington, said he towed more people today than he has in his entire life combined. He is driving up and down I20 in his 3500 hauling people out and then taking them to safe houses.

Wrecked the car. Crossed an impassible bridge. frick James Spann. scotch time bitches.

It's not like just a couple of them missed it. Every last one of them missed it, and missed it terribly. Just one of those weird weather phenomenons.
I'll still blame the shite out of them though.

I was helped by someone who was driving up and down the roads. He took my entire family home, and we are able to sleep soundly and safely. thank your uncle for me.

At least Spann has shown his face and said he made a huge error. Have you guys seen the JP Dice guy from Fox 6 yet? Have the others come out and said they were wrong?
Posted on 1/28/14 at 10:07 pm to Bham4Tide
One of the other guys did, but forget which one.
