The Alabama Greek system is the culprit.

We did everything we could to hire Charlie. He turned us down. Not the other way around.
The writing on the wall is, that it's Florida.

Did he interview? I don't even remember his name being tossed around honestly.

And it happens to be Florida: I am truly ashamed of my university.

Straws: READ links before posting. The article STATES that he came out in 2009 with a story of another school that wouldn't consider him as HC because he was black and his wife is white...duh, UF had NO job opening since 2004 for HC and UF didn't even rehire Spurrier back then. He meant another school and you only have to guess it was a redneck country school? Please don't cast UF in a bad light my friend....the only thing you have to be ashamed about is your freaking READING skills. That is all.

On a related note...I met Strong when he was with Zooks staff at a fishing tournament around 2003 and he was very reserved and you could tell he liked being in the background. He did not pursue jobs back then and in my opinion should have. UF was fine with him and his wife a long time ago...our AD is the best in the business. Strong is a great defensive mind and should prove to be a very successful HC.

That's an easy answer for black people to give when they don't get hired. It's much easier to play the race card then own up to responsibility because yes, he did have a terrible interview. I think anyone who watched his introductory PC at Texas could testify that he's not a great speaker.

Its a well known fact that Auburn is a very racist institution. Just ask Charles Barkley.

It's possible. I mean is Charlie
the first black man unfairly treated in
the south? Things have changed for the best and that
should be the story.

If you think "your" southern school
didn't practice racism at the highest
level, get a clue. Every school is guilty.
Even in the post Jim Crow south.

We're finally beating and dominating the cancer of bigotry

Within two decades, every man will get a fair shake in the south.

It's time to let the past go.

Charlie just had to poke an idiot

Who really gives a shite if his wife is white?

Probably just Charlie....

You would think a man of his success would be too ashamed to try to play the race card. I have little respect for him, and it's not because he's black.

I'm not saying he's a liar, but who the hell gives him an answer like that on why he wasn't hired?

Well this isn't the first time someone's reached for the trump card to drum up coverage of themselves. It's highly possible he fabricated everything. All I know is that there were rumors swirling about that Florida didn't hire him because he was black. Which is possible.

I find it hard to imagine any AD or owner of a pro team not hiring the best candidate for the job, regardless of color.

I've not been offered jobs before and never assumed it was a skin color issue.
