No, it might just change how much they pay. At this point I could see it going either way.

On one hand the ACC could want them to pay to prove that the exit fee has teeth in the post-GOR period. The issue there is- will $50 million even be enough to stop a program in 10 years?

On the other hand, the ACC looks like it is upgrading with UL and they probably want to just move on into the future now that this case will no longer determine the stability of the league.

I think the ACC settles, but in a way that the fee still matters going forward. A "well you got away with it THIS time."

Yup.

That's all this is. Negotiating the price of freedom.

Of course, the SEC allows any team to leave at any time with no exit fee.
