"Upon information and belief and as reflected in the ACC's competitive market analysis study, the average U.S. News ranking of conference member institutions of the ACC and the Big Ten is much superior to that of the SEC. Upon information and belief, graduation rates at the SEC member institutions fall well behind the graduation rates for Big Ten and ACC schools. Further, SEC members are more defined by the strength of their emphasis on football programs and include no natural rivalries with Maryland..."

Seems counter-intuitive to me that graduation rates are so much lower has anything to do with the quality of the school. If SEC schools were so easy, then you'd think far more kids would graduate not fewer. Off the top of my head, I would guess the graduation rates have far more to do with laxer admission standards as Southern states are more willing to let a kid go to school and weed them out their freshman and sophomore years.
That said, we never wanted Maryland anyway. West Virginia was a possibility, Florida State said no in the past and the teams we've added so far are fine additions.

If I ever got into a recruiting battle with Maryland as a coach the first thing I would do is show paragraph 109. "Look kid, even though don't think they can compete in football."
