Mason is a good back and not saying he isn't. However, his stats in a run happy offense like that is about like raving over David Klingler's passing yards,
I would say more like the same reason that Army and Navy teams are constantly in the top Rush Yds/game each year. Bound to happen when you run the ball 70% of the time.

In a system that was literally almost perfectly balanced 50% run/50% pass? Makes no sense.
This year Auburn passed the ball only 29% of the time.

Ingram 2009:
Attempts-271 Yards-1658 Avg per carry-6.1
Mason 2013:
Attempts-317 Yards-1816 Avg per carry-5.7
Mason had more TD but he also had 46 more carries. Every carry is a chance to score.
I'm going with Ingram - and especially so if they are both put into the same offensive scheme for a true apples to apples comparison.

Auburn 4596 attempts for an avg of 328.3
Ohio St 4321 attempts for an avg of 308.6
Not a great deal of difference.

Overlooking the fact that this is a pretty obvious troll post, I think it should be fairly easy to substantiate which back is better using actual statistics.
I'll make the case for Mason:
SEC RANK ALL-TIME: SINGLE SEASON
#1 Total Scoring (150)
#1 Rushing TDs (23)
#1 Total TDs (25)
#2 All-Purpose Yardage (2374)
#3 Total Rushing Yardage (1813)
#10 All-Purpose Yardage Per Game Avg (169.6)
#13 Rushing Yards Per Game Avg (129.7)
SEC RANK ALL-TIME: CAREER
#9 Rushing Yards per attempt (5.77)
These are all categories in which Mason finished above Ingram.

And no hardware to show for it. Silly argument.

As was Ingram winning the Heisman.
Mason Averaged more yards per attempt. Even counting last year in Loeffler's garbage offense.
One of my favorite quotes is "Lies, damned lies, & statistics..."
In their careers, Mason averaged 5.8 YPC and Ingram 5.7; if you include yards from scrimmage (includes receiving yards), Ingram leads 6.2 to 6.0...and Mason actually averaged more YPC in Loeffler's "garbage offense" than he did this year (5.9 to 5.7)...
In their best years, Ingram averaged 6.1 YPC and 6.6 YFS (2009) and Mason averaged 5.7 YPC and 6.0 YFS (2013)...
Ingram deserved the Heisman in 2009 but a couple of the other finalists that year would've been equally worthy as well; there weren't any QBs that year puttin' up outlandish totals as they have in the years since...and if Mason had gotten any publicity earlier this year and Winston hadn't put up quite the numbers that he did, Mason would've been equally deserving of the Heisman this year...
Both backs had great college careers...most Bama fans will prefer Ingram and most Auburn fans Mason. Both backs put up similar numbers so statistics won't tell the tale in this case...all you can base it on is preference/opinion...

Based on raw statistics and late-season performance, a player with Mason's 2013 resume would have won the Heisman with relative ease in 2009. Reversing the situation, a player with Ingram's 2009 stats wouldn't have gotten an invite this year.

Ingram had more 10 more career rushing TDs as well as many more rushing yards. Also, Ingram had 60 rec for 4 Tds as opposed to Mason's 19 for 1 TD.
Ingram = complete back.
Put Ingram in Gus's run happy system and his stats only go up.

If Tre went to bama, the gumps would be saying Tre was the best back......."and it isn't even close".

True. I was just trying to point out it's a silly argument. Next we will be breaking down one play versus another without consideration to opponent, down and distance, quarter, month, weather... They are both good, no way to determine which is better - at least no way to convince anyone here to change their opinion, or bias.

Might be interesting to see yards after contact.

Yeah, ask Saints fans about what a tremendous back Ingram is. It must be the "system" he is in, huh?
