I believe Kiffin was brought to USC as a probation stop gap

He was suckered in to leaving UT and USC knew it was just to be a temp during the probation bad time.
He may be a pretty good OC though as much as I hate to say it.

He will pimp slap the SEC with his offense. Kiffin is at a real football program and will be allowed to flourish. Bama is not UT, this is big boy football.
We will see some HUNH offense in Title Town!

This is probably true. It's going to take some time for me to get used to this hire. I don't worry about whether he's a decent OC, but I worry about his personality - or at least what I perceive to be his personality.

my my, bama getting saban and much success has changed no one more than you BamaScoop. you used to be a good poster and seemingly a nice guy. sigh, you have morphed into an a-hole. when your world crumbles don't expect leniency; it's off with your head.

This. I just don't see how he is going to mesh with Saban. Seems like oil and water to me.
Anyone else sense this is a head coach in waiting scenario?

I think people have a big misunderstanding of how Lane Kiffen actually is. He is a social retard who just wants to bury himself and work on football. It's ideal.

I don't because even though there may be some truth to your oil and water comment with Saban, I think it is way more true if we're talking about Kiffin as a HC and Alabama. I don't see the fit at all if he is any more than a quiet OC and QB coach.

I'm just having fun!
I have to admit that I don't like Kiffin no matter what he does at Bama, but it will be fun to tune in to the Alabama UT game this year.

Is this even possible with Lane?

as ridiculous as this sounds at first you may have something there. when saban left LSU he pushed hard for LSU admin to hire houston nutt. LSU didn't listen thank god. i fully expect saban to run alabama after he leaves the HC position and will not ask for his successor but simply name him. i also believe he will maintain control of the program and kiffen might be just the guy to fit the lackey mold.

no excuse. the jury will convict you unless you reform and go back to your former self. it is your only hope.

It doesn't just sound ridiculous.

No "coach in waiting" scenario has ever worked. That's the last thing I would want.

We'll see.
Regardless, I don't see him at Bama for more than a couple of years. If the LSU fans are right, then he'll be gone. If he does great, he'll either move back to a HC job at a lesser program or maybe back in the NFL as a coordinator.

And Bama will be a springboard for Kiffin's next HC job. I have a feeling Kiffin will benefit a lot more from associating with Saban than otherwise. Kiffin had a good offensive system at UT and USC. What he lacks is solid head coaching system that instills discipline in his players. He may or may not learn this from Saban; some coaches (ex. Mark Richt) simply don't believe in discipline as an integral part of football.

I'd imagine LK has already had a preemptive "Come to Jesus" arse chewing. I think he'll be OK.
