Waited too long to pull the trigger on the guy from USC.

Did he even call plays?

Yes.

I like Roper's O better than Helton's.

Hate to say it but this isn't the kind of hire that will help us keep cook and lane. Not really sure the kind of offense he will be bringing with him to Florida.

Is he coaching the bowl game or no?

Strongly disagree. Cook will be heavily featured in a spread offense.

Except that Roper has coached in both spread and pro-style offenses.

The article says that UF is leaning towards the spread, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Spread. Tailored to Driskel's skill set.

Ok...heres some stats for your review of the 2013 Duke team on offense, keep in mind their ACCCG is included so there are 13 games total. Enjoy.

NCAA ranking: Passing Duke 63rd , 32.8 pass att per game, 234 yds a game, 23 passing TDs total, interceptions thrown - 17 (UF had 9)

Third down conversion rate Duke 85th nationally with .378% rate of success btw UF was 75th with .390%

Sacks allowed 21st in FBS with 16 (UF gave up 27)

Rushing Duke was 59th with 25 TDs and a healthy 4.45 per attmp UF was 86th with 14 TDs and a paltry 3.36 yd avg

Turnovers lost Duke was 85th with 23 turnovers UF btw was 54th.

Red Zone Offense Duke was 49th in the NCAA and UF was a horrible 119th

Time of possession Duke was bad at 95th nationally and UF was 4th in the country...which meant we had the ball a long time and couldn't score

Please temper Dukes season with a look at their schedule....which I think we would have had six or seven wins at least...they didn't play the girls school or Clemson in regular season games and their OOC schedule was a joke...NC Central, Memphis, Troy etc etc.

I hope Roper has thick skin because we all know how patient Gator fans are. But I think he will do fine and has weapons to work with.

Thanks Reel Gator for the information.
I just don't see anything that sticks out to me and screams amazing with the exception of a possible Red Zone improvement.
However the third down conversion rate is kind of bad.
The two defenses they faced all year in the top 25 was VT at #8 who gave up 17ppg and they scored 13 and FSU who at #1 gave up 10ppg and they scored 7.
We scored 7 with Pease as our Offensive Coordinator if you forgot.
But the rest of the teams they played gave up on average 25+ more ppg with the exception of two who gave up 23 and 24. So their 31 ppg isn't that impressive with respect to the defenses they played.
I will hope for the best but like boXerrumble says I will believe we are running a more of a spread type offense when I see it. Especially with all the reports of Muschamp holding back Pease on offense after saying we would see a change after the first year.

I wonder what the talent dispersion of VT and FSU are in comparison to Duke.

Obviously FSU and VT are superior on a talent level. But it doesn't change the fact we did about the same as they did vs FSU with our 4th string QB and depleted oline and defense.

Everyone tune in to the Chick Fil A Bowl where a strange matchup is waiting...Texas A&M vs Duke. I will watch every snap carefully on offense to get a feel for what Roper is running.

Remember Mr Roper in Threes Company and he sure had a lotta talent surrounding him then Oh...wait...I forgot that most of you weren't born or were in diapers back then.
