Playoff Committee Controversy

I wonder if all polls will cease to exist as not to influence the committee. I know for a fact that the Harris poll (Made strictly for the BCS) will no longer exist.
Here's the thing though: if they keep the AP as well as the Coaches Poll there will always be a discrepancy as the committe will never just pick the Top 4 ranked teams. We would not even need the committee if that was the case. Some of the members have already come out and said that conference champs should take precedence over others which I completely agree with since the conference championship games are actually "playoff" games.

As long as money can be made off of the polls (giggity), they will be made

I honestly wish they'd have just used the same formula and had the playoff between the top four instead of a committee.

And what about conferences that don't have championship games?
They should be forced to have them.

All of the majors with the exception of the Big 12 have Championship games. Anyone know why the Big 12 stopped? Was it because Mizzou and aTm came over to the league?

Im a firm beleiver that if you do not win your conference- you have no business being in the National championship game, period.

I can already see it... This new format will be more controversial than what we have now. The "committee" is way too politicized.

A 10 team conference is not allowed to have a championship game according to NCAA regs

They no longer have 12 teams

Definitely! But what about ND?

quote:I think in MOST years that would absolutely be the case, but there are always exceptions to the rule. Hypothetical...No undefeated teams. 2 teams in the Sec West with 1 loss each, but the West Champ loses to a 3 loss team from the East in the SEC CG. Do you think the 2nd place team in the West should be left out of consideration for the NC game even if they beat the SEC champ during the regular season?

They would have to be left out of a 4 team playoff but not an 8 team. Like this year they would probably take a 1 loss Big 12 Champ like OK St. Over Alabama going by what they have said about conference champs. Aub / Mizzou winner would be the S E C's only chance this year.
