Isn't it a penalty on the return guy if he attempts to return a kick after signaling a fair catch?
Yes it is, but you usually only see them call that when the guy obviously signal for a fair catch (arm over head) and not for the any arm movement "fair catch" signal.

What am I supposed to take away from this thread. Refs caused bama to lose?
Or is just one of those "just saying" threads?

will you dumb fricks learn the dang rules before you start crying about this bs. do you realize the rule states lineman have a 3 yard cushion beyond the neutral zone? its almost as funny as yall crying that Marshall was beyond the line...all cause you dont know the frickin rules! you sound like all the other bammer women on facebook.
yes, the refs sucked like always but trust me when I tell you the balance of the bs calls was not in AU's favor. the only flagrant call I saw missed against AU was the helmet to helmet that took our punter out. other than that if your team gets away with the holding they did I'd just stfu about it. that being said it was probably the straightest called iron bowl in recent memory, especially the 2nd half.

Just that I was not as sauced today when I watched the replay and saw some things that I didn't on Saturday. Just goes to show how bad the SEC officiating is across the board.
Still a great and historic game. Congrats Aubie and good luck getting to Pasadena.
Now going to get sauced for the Saints game

The fair catch signal IS an arm over the head.

Hold up swoll up. The rule states 3 yards if you're engaged with a defender. He was 5 yards and alone.

Meh, we kept a sewing machine on the sideline because we knew Bama would hold so much.

Yes, but I'm trying to differentiate between the long standing arm over head fair catch signal and the newer "any arm movement" that college has used the past few seasons.

Gotcha. What the auburn player did was obviously no where near what is called for by the rule.

Next. I agree that Yeldon did not make it on 4th down. But watch the replay he made it on 3rd.
This is what an Alabama fan sounds like. You got out coached. Something LSU fans are use to.

I'd sure like to see a pic of 5 yards alone that ISNT the gd HB. I knew you couldnt read but didnt realize that applied to numbers to sister fricker

It wasn't the waving of arms to clear Auburn players from the ball. It was a quick raised hand to shield his eyes from the sun that was called as the fair catch.

Which is considered a fair catch in college now. ANY arm movement that is not simply sticking the arms out to receive a punt is a fair catch now.

Any signal by the returner stops the ball dead on possession. True facts.

Save you some coin and buy you a magic box. They call it DVR. You can actually pause the play with the touch of a button. Then slowly count yards. BTW I hear it will even work in your trailer

And it is a shame that people like Verne and Gary, who are PAID to know things like this, have to be called by the SEC in the broadcast to tell them this. I excuse Verne because let's face it, he's old
