I still can't get over it...

Murray tore his ACL in his last game in Sanford Stadium...in a year where injuries have literally been the focal point of a lot of this teams problems and over the past week all we hear was how durable he was.
The irony is just too much. I still can't believe it. This is one for the record books boys. Im talking serious Karma shite going on here. What the frick did this team do to anger the football gods in such a way that every starting skill person on our offense was/is hurt through the course of the season...all of them. I mean frick me, at least we didn't totally implode like UF...but my goodness.
JSW...Bennet..Marshal...Gurley...Conely...Artie...and now Murray...
Has this seriously ever happened to another team to this degree? Its laughably ridiculous.
Oh and we still skull frick Tech even without Murray.
Edit: Forgot about Mitchel...who ended his season the first half of the first game on a celebration...a cele-fricking-bration

Most of the injuries simply related to the violent/physical nature of football; yes, all teams have injuries. The obvious question though is why does UGA seem to have more than their share of injuries. Without injury data over time I'm can't verify this premise but there is a perception not just by Georgia (recent post on SEC rant) that it is true.
1. The outside observers quickly point to lack of a qualified S&C coach. They suggest that there exists specific techniques/exercises for strengthening the weak points in the human body.
2. The rest I think can be summed up in one word, discipline, both mental and physical discipline.
a. Our team does way too much celebration on the field. Mitchell is not the first player on our team who has hurt himself celebrating. It's unnecessary and not smart; it wastes energy and is frankly inappropriate since there is nothing to celebrate until the game is won. We should be focused on the next play and not celebrating the previous play. Celebration on the field has often led to unsportsmanlike conduct penalties as well. I would much rather our players behave maturely with quiet resolve.
b. Precision body control is a must in any demanding physical activity; just ask an accomplished ballerina. Running and jumping with reckless abandon is a good way to get injured.
c. Just playing smarter can avoid a lot of injuries and lead to better results on the field. A good example is any runner with the ball being corralled by several defensive players. Just go out of bounds or down for heaven's sake. Fighting against 1000 lbs of other humans usually only leads to bad things like the ball being stripped or worse yet your body getting contorted like a pretzel instead of going down on your terms with control.

We don't celebrate more than any other school.

Every other year we have about the same number of injuries as everybody else..this year has certainly been an anomoly. There's nothing wrong with our S&C. If you can believe it Florida has actually had almost as bad a year as us with injuries, ours have just been more high profile players.
Gurley and Marshall got hurt legitimately during play. Mitchell, Bennett, Conley, Murray, and JSW got hurt due to nothing more than dumb luck really. Sometimes you just have to say you've had bad luck.

Ah geez. It's not like he went all Gramatica on us, he jumped. Literally, he jumped up and down. If his knee was so fragile it gave after that, he wouldnt' have lasted past the SC game anyway.

Ummm...it's football. How should we run and jump more safely?

This. If he injures it celebrating a touchdown with a teammate then he wasn't going to last much longer. It's absurd to put that on him.

Scout:...

This has been one of the toughest seasons in UGA football history. Not because of the win loss record, or because of the quality of the team, but because of the unrelenting unfortunate circumstances which plagued us all year. Our defense was weak, our special teams a mess, but they had just enough in them to win any game alongside an outstanding group of offensive playmakers. That group was decimated early in the year. Officiating in the SEC reached a new low, a problem that can't easily be fixed thanks to a corrupt system where criticism is not allowed. And misfortune was perhaps our biggest opponent throughout the year.
For Firewind...

This has been a trying season for us fans. But, I can't even imagine what it's been like for Richt, his staff, and the players. The Bulldog Nation, while frustrated, has stood strong behind this team because we know them. We know what they go through. We know how dedicated they are to bringing glory to UGA. It starts with Richt and his mental fortitude. Criticize his coaching, we might, but there is no denying that CMR is the man these kids will lay it on the line for. Time and again this season I thought I'd see our players quit on the field and they NEVER did. They never will.
We are gonna beat Tech and then beat our Big 10 opponent. We'll enter the 2014 season with hope, because we are the Georgia Bulldogs. We will always have hope under CMR. We will never have to worry about our team quitting on each other or having having an injury riddled season send our program into a tailspin. Our head coach won't allow it.

WG...you should make another sig bet with swoopin for this weekend, and get that shite removed. He's a GT fan too.

Bet is already set up that way. WG and I have a bet for the AU game and then the GT game. Usually he just sports our sig for 3 weeks

The obvious answer is " Shitty Strength and Conditioning".
There is no way in hell if these boys had been conditioned properly that we would have had this many injuries.
Im not saying they all are b/c of this but come on now I really think its impossible to have had this many injuries and just blame it on bad luck.

Yeah I mean normally it's in the bag that swoopin will wear the av of our choice through bowl season.
Also DGD I was looking through some older posts and saw that last year park was in on the bet too. Not sure why he didn't this year.

It sucks and it's just plain old shite luck. I remember Maryland losing 4 QBs to season ending injuries last year and they had to start a linebacker at QB vs GT. It's just been one of those years for injuries. There's no one to blame, it just happens to football teams sometimes.
Anyone who blames a few freak injuries on S&C is just looking for someone to blame instead of acknowledging that this a football, it is a violent game, and sometimes cleats will get caught in turf at the exact wrong time.

I don't want to believe this but I have thought it for many years. I know that the reason we were given for having to do so much conditioning in High School was because you could get hurt easier when you weren't in shape....I don't know how valid this is but it was driven into us in high school and I still think there is some truth in it.
