Disclaimer: never been in a band in my life, have no idea what goes into it.

As a fan in the now under 30 crowd. The band during play is fine for the most part. Our fans are not as into the generic cheers than say most Big 10 schools, but they seem fine. Volume is definitely an issue, as in the north end zone you can't hear them.

That being said I really find their halftime shows somewhat strange. I mean Stevie Wonder set this year. Most students don't even know a single Stevie Wonder song. And everyone in my section old and young were scratching their heads at a love song tribute for the LSU game. I wish they would, albeit it a bit selfishly, play more modern songs. Basketcase is the only song they have played that was written after 1980.

Of course this might be because of royalties or whatever, but I have heard the Michigan and Penn state bands mix it up.

What was with the overweight James Bond the first half of the season?

No..... No it's not the only one. "All of the Lights" and "Right Above it" are only a few years old.

This is a joke, right? They play Lil' Wayne (who I personally don't care for) but it's an effort to please the under 30 people.

The sad part is that the only song of any kind that our under 30 crowd responds to is Dixieland Delight on the PA. That song was old when I was a student 20+ years ago. AND IT WASN'T GOOD THEN.

The difference in our band and LSU is the crowd response. The cheers are nearly identical. The songs are similar. LSU fans participate, though, and UA fans don't. Our fans are the worst in the conference in this respect.

When LSU plays Chinese Bandits (a mediocre song as old current students grandfathers), every fan participates. That would never happen with our fans.
