Serious question for A&M fans RE: Briles and Baylor

Does the emergence of Art Briles and his Baylor program, along with the subtle decline of the Texas program have any significant impact on your in-state recruiting? When reading the news of Briles' extension it got me curious as to whether they are a real player now, especially in the recruiting of highly rated in-state players. Not a flame thread, just genuine curiosity.

Even when TCU and Oklahoma State were in the top 10, they barely made a dent in our recruiting. I doubt anything different with Baylor. If anything, they'll take away from the rest of the Big 12. Players that aren't afraid of SEC competition will still play in the SEC.

Temporarily most likely, but the success their program has seen lately is a flash in the pan. Baylor doesn't have the resources, prestige, or location to compete with A&M, UT, or Tech on a long-term basis, along with occassional surges from other in-state teams like TCU and UH.

With all the Texas high schools that run spread offenses there are many kids who will want to go to Baylor but the kids who really want to compete and try and get to the next level will choose to go to A&M. Also Briles has a rep of not being a defensive minded coach so the best defensive players will prefer to go to A&M. Just my .02

It's affecting in-state receiver recruits somewhat. Defensively, we are recruiting better than we ever have, and the challenge of the SEC is probably going to make that a constant.

No. They will never a true threat to us in recruiting. Will they beat us occasionally? Yes. But they will never be an actual threat on the level of LSU and texas. They're Baylor, they always will be no matter what

Texas, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma will still get first pick. Baylor will just help keep more kids in-state, that would have went to Big XII out of state.

We're not competing for recruits with Baylor...

There will be some impact with the offensive skill positions. We're already seeing it at WR. I could see QB being impacted as well. Those are the only positions though. I don't see them recruiting top flight D talent well with their current defensive staff.
The problem they will have recruiting against us for the skill position guys in general is we now run a similar style offensively and have put up similar numbers but we do it with a higher national profile, better recruiting staff, and nicer facilities. I see them hurting schools like OU more (and possibly Texas depending on what they do) since they can trumpet their system and offensive numbers to WRs or QBs who are choosing between Baylor or OU.
