No one took the time to recruit them because everyone knew they were going to Tennessee.

because SEC coaches never go after guys they know they probably won't get.

It's a nice pickup but don't try to make it more than it is.

To be fair, Trooper was after them hard, and they were considered to be 50/50 UT/AU when he was still there.

I have no idea if the offers listed on their 247 and Rivals profiles are real. I'm glad we got them regardless. Evan is an elite athlete, Elliott not so much, but some guys are just born to play football and I think these 2 fit the bill.

No clue what position Elliott will play.

Where did I do this?

All I said was Evan's offer wasn't due to his last name. Because it wasn't.

"It's no secret that the Berry twins were bound for Rocky Top but today's news shouldn't be swept under the rug. The Vols are getting two talented football players who will surely have an impact on the program in the future. I think one of the biggest thing that's overlooked with the twins is that they're actually two very different players.

"At 5-foot-11, 185 pounds, Evan Berry is a cornerback with the versatility to slide over to safety if needed. He has good size and strength and should be able to battle with receivers in the SEC as well as help in run support, although he'll need to improve his tackling if he does end up playing safety full-time.

"Elliot on the other hand is listed at 6-foot, 200 pounds and isn't afraid to get in the mix and make plays. The one question is whether or not he's big enough to be an SEC linebacker, or if he makes the transition to the defensive backfield full-time. Tennessee's class is stocked with top-notch defensive backs, so his best chance to contribute early will probably be on special teams.

I see Evan as having the higher ceiling in the long run but there's no doubt that nabbing these type of prospects are exactly what Tennessee needs to keep the program moving in the right direction."

Woody Wommack - Rivals

Evan runs a 10.57 100M btw.

It's not fair to compare Evan to his brother. But Eric Berry, at times, plays what is essentially linebacker for the Chiefs.

Again, not to compare to Eric, but maybe the size isn't a major factor.

You said more schools would be after him if they weren't Vol locks which isn't true.

They probably aren't takes if their last name is anything but Berry. It is what it is.

SEC is gonna be such a toss up if this shite keeps going. Can LSU win the Natty before everybody gets good again??

Now there's like 8 teams in the SEC consistently recruiting in the top 20.

Where exactly is this condescending Auburn fan getting his info?

Rivals shows that Evan had offers from Auburn, Georgia, Clemson, Kentucky, LSU, Miami, Miss St, Missouri, Ohio State and South Carolina.

And that Elliot had offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Louisville, LSU, Miami, Miss St, Missouri, South Carolina, Vanderbilt and Wisconsin.

By all accounts though, it's true that most teams backed away because they've been silent commits for a while. Seeing as their father and brother played at Tennessee and were both team captains, their recruitment was essentially a lost cause outside of the Vols.

It's kind of funny seeing people like the Auburn fan act as if they wouldn't be that highly recruited. I mean... who would want the 22nd ranked athlete and 29th ranked db? Alabama has the 45th ranked db committed to them. But the 29th ranked db is wanted by only one school based on his talent? I'm sure that's it... that or schools like Auburn, Georgia, Florida, LSU, Ohio State etc. did want them but they were always going to Tennessee and had been silent commits since day one. They're legacies.

Damn. I really pissed you off. Those offer lists don't mean shite. A lot of those were probably a offered a couple years ago when everybody thought they would be high 4 stars to 5 stars. I know it wasn't committable at Auburn as we're not even recruiting them and it's probably the same for most the others. And even if they were silents from day one, that doesn't keep teams from recruiting them.

Like I said, quality pickup but no one was coming after them.

Eric basically played linebacker for UT his Junior year.
