re: Evan and Elliot Berry commit to VOLS
Posted by TheOrangePearl on 11/4/13 at 8:37 pm
Where exactly is this condescending Auburn fan getting his info?
Rivals shows that Evan had offers from Auburn, Georgia, Clemson, Kentucky, LSU, Miami, Miss St, Missouri, Ohio State and South Carolina.
And that Elliot had offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Louisville, LSU, Miami, Miss St, Missouri, South Carolina, Vanderbilt and Wisconsin.
By all accounts though, it's true that most teams backed away because they've been silent commits for a while. Seeing as their father and brother played at Tennessee and were both team captains, their recruitment was essentially a lost cause outside of the Vols.
It's kind of funny seeing people like the Auburn fan act as if they wouldn't be that highly recruited. I mean... who would want the 22nd ranked athlete and 29th ranked db? Alabama has the 45th ranked db committed to them. But the 29th ranked db is wanted by only one school based on his talent? I'm sure that's it... that or schools like Auburn, Georgia, Florida, LSU, Ohio State etc. did want them but they were always going to Tennessee and had been silent commits since day one. They're legacies.

I really hope he's your next DC. Great hire for UT IMO. Great because he's a douche.
Funny considering this guy is your coach...

You could probably screen cap that much anger in less than a quarter. Maybe I should take you at your word that Randy Shannon is a douche. You've been watching the biggest douche HC in the country for the past year.

Bill Cowher just said he would have done the same thing Schwartz did. Sharpe and Marino said Harbaugh was in the wrong too

Good now he can sit behind Bray for three years
With Simms at back up, Worley will probably redshirt.
He'll get a shot at starting by his junior(rs) year at the latest. If Bray some how ends up going pro early, Worley will get a chance to start as a sophomore(rs).

re: Kiffin Ink's 3 Espn 150 recruits today? Funny business
Posted by TheOrangePearl on 9/16/09 at 5:28 pm
Why does everyone assume they have to be cheating or bending the rules to get these players? I am guessing they aren't bending the rules anymore than Meyer, Saban, Richt and Miles. Have you guys looked at the coaching staff?
Lane Kiffin: National Championships with USC. OC for a record setting offense(Til last year, Oklahoma). He played quarterback in college and has help coach and or recruit the likes of Carson Palmer, Matt Leinart, Mark Sanchez, Matt Cassell, John David Booty.
Eddie Gran: 13-0 with Auburn. RB coach for Deuce McCallister, Brandon Jacobs, Cadillac Williams, Ronnie Brown and Rudi Johnson.
Jim Chaney: Offensive coordinator with Purdue that recruited/coached Drew Brees and Kyle Orton. In six of Chaney's nine seasons, Purdues offense ranked 4th, 7th(x2), 8th, 13th and 16th in the country.
Ed Orgeron: National Championships with USC and Miami. Recruited the players that currently make up Ole Miss. Has produced tons of 1st round defensive linemen and tons of NFL defensive linemen in general.
Monte Kiffin: Super Bowl with Tampa Bay. It certainly wasn't Brad Johnson and Tampa Bay's offense winning that game. The defense shut down the likes of Rich Gannon, Jerry Rice, Tim Brown and Charlie Garner. The Raiders couldn't even run the ball and Tampa Bay forced 5 interceptions. Monte Kiffin's name sells itself in the recruiting game.
So, the fact that Janzen Jackson wanted to play with Monte and Bryce Brown wanted to play with Gran should come as no surprise. Also, someone said Tennessee stole a player from FSU? Brandon Warren transferred from FSU. Tennessee did still two players from Florida. Nu'keese Richardson and Marasalis Teague. Teague was originally going to play on defense but Tennessee was too thin at WR. So, Tennessee doesn't need to cheat to recruit these players. The coaching staffs history sells itself.

If your team doesn't look good, you are banned from commenting on other teams not looking good? Is that the rule, because had I known, . . . . .
That's not what I was implying. Those people are saying LSU will beat Georgia because Georgia didn't look good. Very flawed logic and that was my point. Mmmk then.

Have I walked into the twilight zone? Not trying to bash LSU but some of you guys are talking about Georgia not looking good against Oklahoma State. LSU didn't exactly look good against Washington and there is a very big difference between the two. Washington has lost 15 games in a row while Oklahoma State is in the top 25. I am not saying LSU can't or won't beat Georgia. I think it will be an evenly matched game. I just don't know how anyone can knock Georgia for their play against a ranked team while LSU struggled with an overrated Washington team. I am saying Washington is overrated because LSU fans seem to be the only ones who think they are any good based off the fact they hung in against LSU. I still feel Washington will be lucky to hit the .500 mark this season. Oklahoma State > Washington and it's not even close.

With the lack of instate talent Tennessee has, UT fans had better not expect things to be like they were in the late 90s. It is a different era.
I think the staff will do okay recruiting out of state. Lane, Ed O, Gran, and Thompson are some of the best in the business. Tennessee's class fell out of the top 25 when Fulmer was fired. The new staff came in and landed the #10 class. That's pretty good. Will be interesting to see what they do with a record over .500.

Didn't notice it. Sorry. I personally like to keep with all SEC schools in recruiting.

How bout OL, though?
I think the offensive line will fall into place with this class. The players listed and Bryce/Oku is a nice core offense to block for.

I expect LSU to win but I'm thinking Vandy will give them a good fight. Not the same Vandy team of the past that was a freebie.

Tennessee needs those guys more than LSU. I guess the difference is Tennessee is using them to rebuild and LSU would be using them for a championship run.
LSU's class ranked #2 last year and currently ranks #2 again this year. Tennessee needs talent too.
