So I went across the state of Missouri this weekend.

Don't bother with pheasant in Iowa. Stick to South Dakota.
Iowa is relatively picturesque compared to Kansas. I had been there before, but this reminded me.
And I ate BBQ at Belton, MO. It was good.
And I felt like I was almost in the south when I got to Joplin. Almost.

That being said, I've noticed a huge difference in the way people interact in customer service since moving back to Arkansas. In Missouri it was very ho-hum. Some would attempt to be conversational but you could tell they were doing a job. Even the people working at Taco Bell here are nicer than any waiter/waitress I got while living in Missouri.
Just thought I'd share my experience. Very impressed with the city so far.
Southern hospitality bitches.

I did notice that my waitress in Belton didn't ask "sweet or unsweet" when I ordered my tea.
They're not as midwestern as Iowegians. So there's that.

There is a coldness about the midwest that I notice, too. In the people in general.
I get what you're saying. On the way up we stopped in the northern KC burbs for lunch.
I was very aware that I was "sitting in a room with other people who were also eating" rather than "enjoying a meal and the company of others."
People in Iowa are downright bland and passive-aggressive.

Kansas drivers dont seem to have left lane etiquete on the interstate. Arkansas drivers dont know what a blinker is. Oklahoma drivers are inexplicably aggressive here in the River Vally, but Iowa drivers take the whole fricking cake when it comes to the worst I've personally ever been around. There are shite drivers everywhere, but these are the things I have noticed. If you see Iowa tags just pull over and let them get well on down the road. If you have to drive through Iowa, may god speed.

Live in West Plains to, I was born and raised in central ark. I love it here in the hills and rocks. Don't know where you ordered tea and had to put sugar in yourself. Did you live here long?

dug my fair share.Makes ya tough. My family still lives among the rice patties of des ark AR and id rather deal with the rocks as the skeeters anyday

I work in Fayetteville occasionally and it is a nice town the folks are nice to but cant tell any difference in the hospitality sorry you had a bad experience.
