tl;dr on the OP but I do agree with the title.
I've been to several AU at LSU games and haven't had any issues with hostility (quite the opposite really). Of course there is the random fans shouting "tiger bait" to which I will occasionally point out that we too are tigers and what they're saying doesn't make much sense.
