Somebody give my noob Yankee arse the full story on why Georgia-Auburn is so much markedly more played than Bama-Auburn. I'm aware of Georgia-Auburn being the oldest SEC rivalry but don't have the full scoop on why Bama-Auburn isn't even close. What the dealio
Also, Mizzou-kansas would be at the top of that list by comparison, second oldest rivalry in the country behind Wisconsin-Minnesota...or at least it had been until they pussied out on us. 120 games.

The series was indeed suspended after the 1907 game when the schools could not come to agreement over the amount of expenses to be paid players, as well as from where officials for the game should be obtained.[5]
n 1947 the Alabama House of Representatives passed a resolution encouraging the schools to "make possible the inauguration of a full athletic program between the two schools".[6] The schools were disinclined to resume the series despite the passage of the resolution, since it did not have the effect of law. However, the Alabama congress threatened to withhold state funding from the schools unless they did resume the rivalry.
So it took the state Congress threatening to withhold funding to make us play each other again.

During the 20's or something there was some minor squabble over details of how the games would be played and so both schools decided to be pissy and not play anymore. Didn't start playing again till the 50's
