quote:This time last season Clowney had just 3 more sacks and like 5 more tackles. Teams are keying on him way more than last year as well.
this time last season Coooper hadn't really exploded on the scene yet.

That would explain a lot. Can't really fix it except to stay out. Not considered severe but a skill player with this is really limited.
Yep we saw it with Eddie Lacy too. He was a completely different player once his turf toe was finally healed up. Hopefully this months schedule won't be too much of a grind that we will need him to step up........

But its not too early to proclaim Clowney is "the biggest bust in history", he's "given up on the team", he's "a joke that doesn't love the game of football"?
I think Clowney saw what happened to Lattimore and wants no part of that. Lattimore was pretty much a consensus top RB in the country before he blew his knee out.

quote:Good point. Could say the exact same thing about Clowney. Its fine if Cooper sits out to heal up from turf toe but if Clowney sits vs kentucky everybody thinks he's quit on the team.

The injury can be debilitating for athletes of many sports who need to accelerate, quickly change direction, or jump. Use of the toes is not possible during the healing process.[citation needed] Since the toes are necessary for proper push-off when accelerating, those sorts of athletic activities can be almost completely curtailed. A healing period of one or more months is often required
From wiki but I think that is about right. They might as well sit him and get him ready for LSU, it would seem.

Yeah I really don't understand why he is still out there playing right now, but I trust our training staff.
Just seems weird to put him out there against Ga St. especially out of the 15 WR's that caught passes he wasn't one of them.
I think the other issue is something AJ mentioned yesterday is that teams are just denying the deep ball right now. It is why we have seen so many short crossing routes and things like that.

I really don't think it's turf toe.
I really don't think it's an attitude problem either, he's just not completely focusing in practice or during games. It only takes a millisecond lack of focus to drop a pass, and he struggled with that in the first few games. If player A, B, and C are less talented but more reliable than player D, Saban is going to play them every time over that guy.
Nobody has a guaranteed spot in the lineup, that's the way it should be.
He is a dynamic player though, and he's proven that and proven he's one of the best in the country when he's tuned in. He just needs to find that zone

Well, it is.
He's noticeably not as shifty out there, and you can tell after plays that its bothering him.

Cooper's attitude this season is Clowney Ultra Light.
he needs to get his attitude in order and get back in the coaches good graces. but he's not out there refusing to play cause his wittle pinky hurts, and Cooper isn't out there sucking wind in the 2nd quarter like he just smoked a blunt.
Both guys suffered from a little bit too much hype from last season. Some Bama fans were saying that Cooper would be as good or better than Julio, and the numbers bear that out a little. But these kids have to realize that you haven't arrived just because of one good season.
partial hijack: historically, which players from your SEC team have been the biggest "one year wonders" only to never do much again? players who finally played good in their senior year shouldn't be considered.

That's the thing. If it is turf toe, why not sit him and allow no weight bearing for this GSU through UT slate. That would be good rest then 2 weeks to get back into gear for LSU.

true. thats a good question. Maybe he is trying to shake it off because he wants to play that bad. It might be the opposite of the Clowney situation.

Auburn fan talking about 1 hit wonders? That's some funny shite. Auburn embodies all that is a one hit wonder at the moment.

Not really. Bama's offense as a whole just isn't as good this year.

Everyone double teams cooper. He is pissed and keeps fighting.
Clowney is a piece of crap. Someone pay him twenty bucks to disappear after his upcoming drug selling arrest. Word is he fancies himself a gangsta.

At least Coop has heart. Clown eat is a fricking lazy arse, no way I would draft him.

Coop is Bama's version of Sammy Watkins. After Watkins freshman year some were saying he was the best. Then injuries and suspensions and a slump caused him to have 500 less yards receiving and 6 less receiving tds his sophomore year. He's doing fine this year. I expect cooper to get it together at some pt as well.

A top Rivals top 50 player is now considered "under the radar"?

Scout had him as the #12 WR in the country
Rivals had him in their top-50 overall, #6 WR
247 had him at #55 overall, #6 WR
.. basically a top-50 guy is "under the radar"
