I think if y'all win again this year , it will definitely become a discussion.

He's a better coach than the Bear. But Bryant will always be number one in our hearts

The bar has been set at 6 Titles
He's on his way to just as good as the Bear.... must win 7 to be "better"

Saban has already carved his own notch in the history of Bama football. Its just a #'s game now.
Bryant his era
Saban his era
Everybody else which is fine by me.

Wallace Wade should be in the conversation. He didn't coach as long as Bryant, but was every bit as good. He coached at Alabama for 7 years and won 3 National Titles, including Alabama's first ever in 1925. His 7 years at Alabama we very comparable to Sabans.

Na. It's far harder to win a National Tiitle now than it was during Bear's coaching period. They had far more polls and publications that were picking Champs. Bear also had built in advantages that Saban doesn't.
No scholly limitations and Bear could sell recruits on playing on TV every weekend( bama played on national tv more than any other sec team back then.

I do love where the bar that has been set to be the BOAT head coach at Bama. I am curious how the Bear would do with all the restrictions on today's game compared to his era.
Bear = greatest motivational coach of all time
Saban = greatest evaluator of talent of all time
Both of them having runs at Bama = Hell yeah, Roll Tide!!!

You don't even put any stock in National titles.

That's the answer.
3 in a row and 5 national titles in the BCS era is a greater accomplishment in my mind.

He isn't better than Bear.
Bear went 10-1 at Kentucky and beat 10-0 Oklahoma in a bowl 13-7 , he also won 6 titles , got screwed out of 2 and was within 2 points of another ( 13-11 bowl loss ) and 1 point ( 7-6 regular seaason loss to Georgia Tech in 62 ) to another.

Yeah, but all of Sabans losses were because Alabama beat themselves.
