SG Devin Booker to announce 10/31

Just read that Devin Booker will make his announcement on 10/31. I'm sure you already know, but down to UK, Michigan, MSU, Mizzou and UF. I don't know that UF is really a contender at this point as he never scheduled a visit there and there hasn't been any buzz about them.
Booker has 1 maybe 2 visits to Missouri in October. October 18 is his official and October 25 his dad(and team) is being honored for the 20th anniversary of their undefeated conference season. He has already visited UK, UM and MSU.
At least schools won't have to drag it out with Booker and will either have him or can refocus efforts elsewhere. The fan in me says Mizzou but since he apparently already has a likely decision made and hasn't visited Mizzou for his official yet, my head tells me UK(his personal favorite) or MSU (mom's likely favorite).

I still can't help but think he goes with Momma. I never doubt Mommas anymore.

I'd be lying if I didn't say I was hoping for a DGB type surprise. Mizzou was in the background throughout with no one giving them much chance.
That's the heart speaking. The head says you're probably right about momma. I just don't know a lot about those dynamics. When they divorced. I know Devin lived in Michigan for a while. When did he move to Mississippi? Sounds like both parents are involved in raising him. Did he live with one more than the other through the years? Guess we'll all find out in a month.

I'm obviously hoping he goes the "don't want to pit one against the other so Kentucky it is" route.

Mizzou apparently took a page out of UK's book and sent a contingent to Booker's open gym today. According to Booker, they were 3 deep watching.

This was posted on the Mizzou board.

BRIAN AUSTIN ON RECRUITING
Basketball
-- I'll start with info about Mizzou's biggest 2014 hoops target. A lot of chatter, recently, about Devin Booker telling other recruits that he is going to Kentucky. It's hard to know exactly what is going on behind the scenes with high level recruits like Booker, but we spoke with a player Mizzou has been recruiting for a while and that player told us he believes Booker will end up at Mizzou.
What does it all mean? Hard to say. I don't think anyone is lying about what they are hearing. I think it is just really difficult to get a read off of Booker right now. It looks like it's going to be a case where we won't know until the announcement.
Regarding the announcement, I spoke with Melvin Booker last night and he told me that the decision date has not been confirmed yet. Looks like it will probably be Halloween, but it is not set in stone yet. Melvin also confirmed that three Mizzou coaches were down to see Devin yesterday, which was first reported by Jason Jordan at USA Today. That should completely squash any notion that Mizzou was backing off on Booker because of the other guards they are after.

There is a write up about the kid in todays HL.

I have seen some sites list October 30th has the decision date and some list Halloween as the date. Either way, He looks to be deciding soon and signing this fall. That seems to tell me he has his mind made up already. He is going to be a good player for someone.

I agree. Part of me says that's bad news for Mizzou because he hasn't taken his official yet. On the flip side, he's been to Mizzou plenty over the years.
I will go on record saying if Mizzou doesn't get him, I really hope UK does.

Didn't his father play for the Tigers?
If his father played there and the visit goes really well then I think there is a chance he could be swayed.
I don't think UK leads on James Blackmon, but his father played here and he is making a visit here and that could swing things to our favor.
Some kids are more likely to want to follow in their fathers footsteps and attend his former school and some would rather take their own path.
We will see which path these two recruits choose.

Was an all-American at Mizzou. His official is in a couple weeks and then the very next weekend he is supposed to be coming back again for a 20th anniversary celebration of his dad's Mizzou team that went undefeated in the Big 8. They'll honor the team and Mizzou's exhibition game that weekend will be a throw back game with throw back uniforms and being played in the now retired Hearnes Center where his dad played. By all accounts the fire marshal has already been put on notice about the number of people that will be there. I think he's set to announce the week after that.
I just don't think his dad is pushing him hard one way or the other, but who knows.
Devin = UK
Mom = Michigan school
Dad = Mizzou
We'll see shortly who he goes with.

Just saw that. RTR said Blackmon is announcing too. I don't know that I feel comfortable with either but we'll see.
Watch his arse go to State.

Who the frick knows with any recruit. Everything I've read seems to indicate Blackmon to UK. But you know what they say about opinions.
I think Mizzou closed the gap with the last 2 visits. I just don't know if it was enough to overcome who they are going up against. Cal. Izzo. Blah.

Well, it would be nice to get Booker but he sure seems like he is leaning to UK.
Damn you Kentucky, damn you.

Some of your Missouri fans on the rant think he's been a lock for Missouri for a while now. What makes you think differently?

Probably something to do with the thread I started just below this. 24/7 and Scouts national basketball guys both have him committing to UK along with Blackmon.

In their defense the only ones I've seen openly declare Booker a lock is MS2 and MIZ-SEC who are just trolling anyway.
