I agree, I would have rather seen the Aggie band than not.

But I've never seen a school get so butthurt about not getting to send a marching band somewhere.

I can't tell you whether our band travels to away games or not. I. Don't. Care.

Cheshire, everyone knows you're not a troll. It doesn't fit. Although reading you try is kind of interesting.

I'm not trolling. I'm honestly baffled by how worked up some of your posters have gotten this week over rules that we apply to very school.

I get being annoyed by the Midnight Yell. That does suck but the band thing shouldn't be that big of a deal.

We shouldn't honor one of our own during halftime to accommodate an aTm tradition (band). I'm shocked

That's understandable. Many fans don't care about their university's band.

Most Ags, however, view the Aggie Band as being as much a part of football games as the walk on guys on the 12th Man Kickoff team. They're just always there.

And I don't think the response is solely b/c of the band; it's the combination of all three deals (Rev, band, Yell Practice).

We'll live.

We don't expect them to get buzz cuts, put on military-style uniforms, and find round-about ways to express their gayness under the guise of "tradition".

Are you telling me this whole band, and mascot thing hasn't been a troll the entire time, and you guys are legitimately upset about this?

I don't really think it's butthurt. We just adhere to a diametrically opposed idea of "hosting" and were caught off guard.

But I would agree that's our fault. Not every fan base is as blessed as ours. Not every fan base is as willing to share in their bounty.

I don't fault the hogs here at all.

I don't think upset is the right word. I doubt anyone is genuinely that bent about it.
Some people probably couldn't care less; but some people are likely very surprised by the decisions made by Arkansas.
It's just a discussion, that's all.

The Aggies have bitched and moaned since they joined. Found out they had to move their student section per SEC rules and have whinned every since. Have you never watched a gay show. When they don't get their way they go all queen. That's all we're seeing. Aggie going queen on us. They even know where we keep ours at (Eureka Springs).

There would be many thousands more that would remember seeing the aTm band than will remember who the frick was 'honored' at halftime.

I'm not against folks getting 'honored', but there's plenty of time between quarters now that all games are televised. And a world of time pregame.

Oh holy hell!

Ok, here's an analogy - it's not pretty - and don't take it wrong.

You know when you're a kid, and there's a retarded kid that talks funny - so you start talking like him, because it's funny as shite? You and your friends are running around herping and derping, while the retarded kid is crying and bumping his head into the wall. Then your dad finds out, and beats the shite out of you because you just made fun of a retarded kid, and he's now got a bruise on his head from hitting the wall.

Yeah, I feel like my dad just found out I was making fun of a retarded kid, and I didn't know he was retarded. frick!

Do you seriously care that fans from a visiting school practice yelling for a few minutes? How is that rude? Why?

And it's at midnight. In a Walmart parking lot. Who in the world would that bother?

No one disrespected anyone--we did/are respecting our hosts. Yell Practice has been moved in order to avoid upsetting anyone.

I just come from a different world I guess. We enjoy interacting w visitors and witnessing the football traditions of others.

Both sides have to respect one another, imo. Personally, I wouldn't care. Hell we hosted Bama's alumni chapter meetings for 40 years at UT on campus the building used to be the faculty club but recently became the Visitor's Center where every student, recruit, and their parents begin campus tours -- an ill-timed Roll Tide! resulted in recruits and parents overhearing it and asking why the Visitor's Center which is designed to recruit students was yelling roll tide which a fair question. The Bama chapter ends its meeting that way so it was time to move -- not really much question there. However, once construction on our campus is more settled, it won't surprise me if they're given access to a different meeting place.

However, some fans do care about such things, especially since it's at midnight (really that's more the part that can be viewed as rude or maybe just inconsiderate/not thinking of your hosts' feelings might be a better way to put it, more than anything else albeit perhaps by accident. Wal*Mart is also a major part of the state of Arkansas' pride instead of just a mega-store like here and where you're from so I can see how it would be taken as an insult and without knowing the location of this store I don't know if the event might disturb those elsewhere whether residential or out at clubs). Arky is also coming off a meltdown from last year as well as a loss to Rutgers that really shouldn't have happened so I'm assuming they're a bit sore, especially given they know deep down they're not going to win against A&M.

Really, I just think you can't assume that a midnight tradition that involves making a lot of noise is going to go over well in a lot of southern towns (many roll up the sidewalks at 9.00 - except for the bars and Wal*Marts and some of those who've been to the bars are gonna be at the Wal*Mart).

But like I said, Arky should also be accommodating and help find a location ahead of time where no one will be bothered.

You know can't say I ever emulated a retarded kid I didn't know was retarded. It was usually obvious - precisely because the way he would talk.

But if I ever need help distinguishing a retard from someone of normal cognitive ability, I'll be sure to reflect upon your little anecdote.
