At present I would agree.

while i agree he's never leaving, what makes people think UT wouldn't give total control to saban, just like bama has?

Bama has the resources for football. They won't pay 10 mill however.
This will be the talk, especially in LA and at Auburn but he's not going anywhere. Everybody knows that. Soooo much wishful thinking and I'd be the same. Not at 62. 10 years ago, he probably goes but he truly has no interference from anybody and I kind of figure he has enough money.
Next year, certain fanbases will have another place he's going to . We don't pay much attention anymore. If he was going to leave he'd have done it right after the NC game. Yes, he had teams contact Sexton by the way following the ND game and ND made overtures before settling for Kelly also. Whatever pro job opens up after this season, certain schools will find an obscure connection, he has a former team manager on the Chargers or he played against the head coach at____, tell us he has nothing to prove at Bama, the Dolphins not getting to the Super bowl keeps him awake nights on end, he wants to beat Belechick, He needs another challenge, blah blah, He has plenty of challenges at Bama and has not proven anything except that right now he is SECOND best coach Alabama ever had. If anything keeps him awake at night it's that, not the Dolphins.

Make a compelling argument for one job that he left FOR money.

If he leaves for Texas then yes, it's ALL ABOUT THE $$$$.

My only concern is that we aren't paying him more.
If we can "easily pay him 10 million a year"
"Bama can match any offer"
Why the hell wouldn't we go ahead and pay him 8 million a year and go thanks for kicking arse we don't want you to just be the highest paid coach, we want you to realize this is a special situation.
I think it's stupid to pay him around what Les, Mack Brown, etc. makes. If you expect someone to offer him 8-10 million a year and he's easily worth more than that why wouldn't you give him a raise and let him know you're serious. The last thing I want is Saban playing the game to squeeze salary out of us. If he leaves you don't have anyone to match his success so make sure he doesn't leave because of money.

All of them. He's received a raise everywhere he has gone and he deserves every bit of it. You're delusional if you think money doesn't matter to him. It matters to everyone.

And you think that's the main reason he left? Let me ask you this:
Do you think Saban cares more about money, or climbing the ladder to the top of the football world?
Posted on 9/25/13 at 8:54 am to Teague
Yes money is the big factor to him get over it.

Is that why he took a pay cut to leave Miami and coach at Alabama?

make an argument he hasnt. He did leave the dolphins for less money a year(500k), but gained a longer contract with more bonus money that had a much higher value.
Alabama wont match Texas or a serious pro team, they will go up to the 8-9 with bonuses and maybe add some length to the deal, but thats it.
Ultimately its going to take more than 10 mil to lure Saban away, and thats not happening

Not sure if serious. I'm not a Texas fan, but they have better facilities, better looking women, better city, better pay, much easier recruiting, and most importantly, their fans have a life outside of football.
You sound like a bitter LSU fan.....not a non Texas fan...

I think it depends on what you look for in a job that determines which one is better.
First off, it's not in the SEC and the competition that Saban supposedly loves takes quite a hit once you enter the Big 12. There is NOTHING like the SEC atmosphere and competition.
They have both won close to the same amount of games (though Texas has a slightly higher winning %), but Bama has more NCs (even more if you count the ones that nobody counts except the Bama fans...had to do it). They both have good tradition, but Bama has Bear and Forrest Gump, so I'm giving Bama the edge. By the way, I had no idea Texas' stadium held over 100,000 people until recently. People barely ever talk about their stadium.
Yes, for recruiting purposes and winning a hell of a lot easier, I think Texas is better.
Financially, nobody can touch Texas either. They are #1 there. I think LSU was the only other program in the SEC valued at over 100 million dollars and they are still about 30 million away from Texas.
I still think Bama is the better job and I think their fans are more hardcore.

He gained a much larger contract 8 years 32 mil before bonuses vs 13.5 left at Miami

Saban doesn't wanna go to the big 12 and face the juggernaut that is TCU every year. It's really not fair to anyone.

Is it a good thing or a bad thing that we've gone through almost 2 pages of responses and no one commented on Barnhart's "control of his domain" wording.
