Too Bad LSU Doesn't Have An Intrastate Rival

I'm somewhat jealous of the intrastate rivalries such as enjoyed by bama-Auburn, Ole Miss-Miss State, Texas-Texas A&M (I've never seen such hate for another team from a fanbase), Kentucky-Louisville, Florida-Fla State, Georgia-Ga Tech.
Nobody in Louisiana is close to being LSU's equal and that's too bad because the rivalry from instate teams is part of the enjoyment of college football.
Maybe at some point in the future? And who might it be?

Our rivalry makes CFB so much better from my standpoint

I don't know... I think I'd take easy recruiting over in state rival.

Tulane made the dumbest conference move in all time history a long time ago. Youngin.

Then you must be a child.
I've never seen so much hatred in a fanbase as LSU fans hatred of Tulane.
Tulane IS LSU's intrastate rival, it's just that LSU fans hate Tulane SO much, they refuse to believe it.

Very few people in the state of Louisiana, other than Tulane alumni, care about Tulane football. Possibly many many years ago there was a rivalry but today it's virtually nonexistent. Ask a LSU fan about Tulane and most of the time they'll tell you that they don't follow Tulane. They don't care about Tulane. You can bet that the fans in the other rivalries mentioned do care about the failure and success of their intrastate rivals to a point of obsession with many of them.

As explained before, its not the team. Sports barely scratches the surface of our hatred for that school.

That's an interstate rival, not the same thing. And even though there's been efforts to make it a real rivalry, it hasn't happened so far, IMO. Playing for the 'boot' isn't something most LSU fans are waiting for every year. Something may develop with A&M but that still wouldn't be an intrastate rival.
LSU owns the Louisiana schools. And I guess in a way that's a good thing but on the other hand the state is missing the enjoyment of real rivalries within the state.

Good point. I was in college for 48-7 and 31-28.
I miss playing them ever year. I hope we do indeed go to New Orleans in '15 or so as I saw somewhere.

Like I said, you must be young. Otherwise you wouldn't be talking to me like you have all this inside info on an old rivalry that I don't already know.
Did we let it slip? Yes, we refused to play home and away series with our oldest rival.
And before anyone starts in on the "They have to be competitive to be considered a rival" bullshite, A&M's record vs UT isn't much better than Tulane's record vs LSU.
Start a thread on reviving the home and away series with Tulane and just watch the vitriol ooze out of your monitor. It's still there, just hibernating underground.

LSU doesn't have to have a rival at all do they?

Maybe when UCL (University of Central Louisiana) does the name change, starts football, moves up from NAIA through the ranks to FBS, does the conference carousel from Sun Belt up to SEC (supplanting Arky) and thus becomes a permanent SEC West opponent?

No, but it would add 'fun' to the football season every year, I think.
For example, your rivalry with Ga Tech. That adds interest, color, fun to the football season, doesn't it?

We used to until Tulane dropped out of the SEC and de-emphasized football
