The game clock starts as soon as the ball gets set on a first down. The clock was running when you had to call timeout, not just the play clock.
Who cares. They ran the play clock all the way down before calling the timeout. No more time could have run off the clock. This did not matter at all.

Look at the next play, on 3rd and goal from the 12 Mett throws a bad pass to a guy not in the endzone.
I was at the game sitting at the other end of the stadium, but if I remember correctly this pass came off a scramble where the receiver changed his route. Play was designed to be thrown into the endzone. Not a coaching issue.
However, there were a couple of management issues on that drive. And if that is all you want to take from this game and the improvement to LSUs offense, then that is because that is all you want to see.

Is that a fact?
Anything other than an incomplete pass or a play that goes out of bounds and some more time would have run off the clock.

Yes. Unless you want to count maybe 100th of a second. When the play clock is run down, you either snap the ball and the clock continues to run, get a penalty and the clock stops, or call timeout and come back in and the clock starts at the same point it would have when you would have snapped the ball. I feel like I am trying to explain football to my wife.

When you're trying to run the clock out and you have to call timeout, that is a clock management issue, a comical one at that. You did the defense a favor because they didn't have to burn a timeout. (I feel like I'm explaining football to my grandma.) Go back and look at that play if you want, Lsu wasn't just trying to run down the play clock and call timeout, they were trying to run a play there but they couldn't due to confusion.
The announcers made mention of Cameron being new and needing to get on the same page as everyone else. Mett was visibly irritated and kept throwing his hands up. They had to call timeout to avoid a penalty, it wasn't like they planned it that way.

It's really hard to say anything positive about an LSU game for you huh?
Give em' a break...their biggest SEC game ever was a loss to Ohio State and their overall biggest game ever was a loss to Texas.

Excuse me for not awarding him the Heisman.
How long have you been watching football. We don't need a heisman QB

It's definitely a plus for the staff and in a key area. Hopefully, he'll have a lot of free reign to demonstrate his skill set.

If I remember correctly, didn't we score more against TCU than you did against ULL? If you don't man up and answer this question, then everything you've said will be null and void.

We had a new kicker attempt a late field goal and he missed, otherwise it would have been the same.
Now you guys just have to admit that calling a timeout when you're trying to burn the clock is not the optimal thing to do in that situation. Lion Monticello has convinced himself that this is totally normal.

Well ULL and TCU are about the same quality of opponent yet you gave up 27 points as we only allowed 14, so I don't know what you're laughing about.

You were right when you told me that Cam Cameron is the best OC in all of the land.
He's an NFL calibre OC currently at the college level (there are only a few of these). We are very fortunate to have him and probably only have him due to his long time friendship with Miles.

I'm happy that you finally found your wizard.
Wizard? Maybe, but not in the way I, or most expected. There was some no huddle, some hurry up, a bit different play calling...but none of it radical. What I saw was a universe of difference in simple execution. This is what he brought us. And it resulted in 88 plays and a good 3rd down conversion ratio. Now to iron out red zone issues with tight end incorporation and some passes still being dropped...and we have an O that should be a top 20 type. It's really all we've ever asked for, considering the talent.
