South Carolina.

When they called Shay for holding on Dex's run, we were in trouble.

I didn't anticipate that game so much as I dreaded it. I had a doomed feeling the entire week leading up to it.

I always think "this yer is the most pumped I've ever been" and it's normally hard to tell.

But for me it does have to be this game and season.

I admit I haven't been a life long Ole Miss fan. I started following Ole miss when I started there in 06. So I don't have as many years to compare as some of y'all do.

But this game has so much riding on it.

Win this and we keep that momentum and ride into Texas at 2-0.

Lose and all that momentum we have created is slowed down. And we most likely start the year 1-3

This game is HUGE

That South Carolina game hurt a few years ago. I remember not being able to sleep afterwards i was so miserable.

Everything about this game reminds me of South Carolina.

Obv. Thursday night SEC road game national TV under the lights blah blah.

We have the preseason hype.

Vegas likes us.

Most of our fans are predicting a comfortable win for some godforsaken reason.

I disagree.

That night against SC was ominous from the get go. And this year's hype doesn't hold a candle to the hype going into that one. We were #4 in the country for that one and unranked going into this one. And I'm sorry, but a vandy Thursday nighter will be nothing like what we experienced in Colombia that night (I was there). That was/is the most electric atmosphere I've ever witnessed for a football game.

And oh by the way, this team isn't coached by Nutt. Our guys will be much more prepared than any Nutt team ever was coming out of fall camp.

I was in Columbia as well - we didn't make the proper adjustments and lost to a decent SEC team that had a strong defense. Jevan Snead was not good that game (and Marshay tripped on punt return he should've housed). This year Vandy's team reminds me of USCe. They are a ball-control team that leans on their defense.

My whole point is that people forget what it takes to win on the road in this league. OM fans think Vandy is Vandy of old. They don't see the defensive quality they have. People lean on arguments like "ACS has never played in the SEC" "we'll bring 15K to the stadium and Vandy fans aren't loud", or "we don't have Pete or Nutt anymore"... IMO that doesn't matter much in a 1 game scenario.

It's not about Nutt vs. Freeze, any dumbass knows who the better coach is. The point we've only won 1 SEC road game in 3 years and Vandy was 9-4 last year, so why would I assume we'll win by double digits

I only disagreed that I don't have the same ominous feeling that I had against SC. That doesn't mean that don't think they're solid and it won't be close. This team just doesn't remind me of the 09 one at all.

This doesn't feel anything like USC. I felt after our first two cupcakes in 09 that we still weren't ready for Columbia and we weren't. This year I think we will at the very least look ready to play and our game plan is light years ahead of Nutt's that year. I also don't think that Vandy is going to rush two and still get a sack against our line like USC did against your boy Bradley Sowell
