I know it's a thin line. But that's where I stand.
And again. I think it comes down to their QB not being ready for SEC Style Defense. Say what you want about ole Carter Samuels but there is a reason he initially went to WYOMING. ....
He isnt that damn good.
Now if we were playing them later in the season and he had time to progress and get used to the game in the sec then yes I say it's a close game. Hell even a toss up. But that's not the case.
31-14 Rebels for my official prediction.

A Vandy fan could easily say there was a reason Bo Wallace initially went to Ark State...
If he was a young QB I would agree. It isn't SEC experience, but he has experience and can run pretty well.
I think we win, I just think it will be close. I hope you are right.

Beat Vandy, beat State... Stay relatively healthy, especially in the secondary... Play well during our 6 game home stretch.
All I want.
All I want.

That's all I want too. Surely that's not too much to ask.

Their OL makes me salivate. They have an All SEC tackle playing on the left side. He got that "All SEC" label after playing RT last year but lets just assume he makes a smooth transition over to the left. Their next best OL is their center who is very similar to Swindoll, with perhaps a higher ceiling. Next is their LG who is young but a solid interior OL. Those three are very solid SEC guys. After those three is where we may break ACS in half. Their starting RT is listed at 285lb but is much closer to 255lb. He was a swing tackle for them a little last year but got most of his playing time lining up at TE in jumbo packages. He's very quick and tough but I really dont think he can handle RN or Channing bull rushing him. The guard next to him is currently a freshman at 285lbs. Now he may get beat out by an upperclassmen but regardless, the right side of Vandy's line will be small and not so talented.
Hopefully feast on his insides.

Thanks for the breakdown WIO.
Seems like two evenly-matched teams, should be a great game.

They could have said that...last year. Bo now has an SEC year under his belt. ACS is brand new.
Remember how much Bo struggled to get it down against Central Arkansas? Sure, he eventually pulled it together and we crushed them. But, that's because they're an FCS team that eventually wore down. We won't wear down like that. I don't think ACS will get a moment to breath.
That still won't be enough if our offense can't run the ball, but I am CONFIDENT in our d-line to wreck ACS.

I watched last years game and I went in feeling very confident after Boyd got suspended, but now I am much more concerned.
If I told you OM, who runs a HUNH offense owned the TOP against Vandy, who doesn't run a HUNH offense, you'd say we won that game.
If I told you that Bo threw for over 400 yards and we out gained Vandy in total yards by a wide margin, you'd think we won that game.
If I told you that we didn't commit a single TO, at home, you'd for sure think we won that game.
All that happened and we still lost.
And for those that think there will be a huge drop off between ACS and Rogers... Maybe so... But ACS would have beaten us last year too. Rogers didn't make any great plays. He made two throws that just about any QB worth a damn could make and those two throws beat us.
Vandy's game plan was to stack the box to shut down our run, and then double team Moncrief leaving everyone else to run freely, expecting Bo to make mistakes as he did most of last year. It worked in a way because we only rushed for 55 years and Donte did jack shite. While Bo did throw for a season high, they kept our offense below its average in points.
That game was just bizarre. It would make sense that Vandy would try the same strategy since the passing game is usually a little rusty in the beginning of the season and also since Vince and Neat are out, plus Bo is coming off of a surgery.
I've said all along that if Bo doesn't shite the bed, we win running away, but I think that's just the Vandy mindset that sinks in every year. I certainly won't pick us to lose, but I lost a lot of confidence after watching last years game.
The saving grace is we did settle for a ton of FGs and if we just push one of those in we win. We both return a lot and while TO's could determine the game, if both are careful with the ball again, then the growth or our offense is what's going to determine this game. Can we push it in instead of settling for FGs... We better

Nah man. Last year we were better than Vandy if it wasn't for all of those field goals. Both teams return a lot of their players and we even added better talent to the team than they did.
If we turn a couple of those fieldgoals into touchdowns we will be set.
I am going on a limb here, and say we'll win 13-35.
If we lose, I'll take back my words.

We've done this every single year yet they have won 6 out of 8.
They have one WR over 6'1 and are starting a RT who is maybe 270lb soaking wet. We better shut this offense down. This is arguable the 3rd best defense we will face this year, certainly top 4, so if we can score on them then the season looks bright. We score 27 or more, we win.
