What would work better in [Louisville] Kentucky: NFL or NBA?

I actually think an NFL team would fare better. Kentucky has the best, and a very good college basketball teams in the state. While KY residents may generally like basketball better than football, I think they would support an NFL team because there just hasn't been that much success statewide.
I take the Thunder as an example. Oklahoma is very solidly a football state. An NFL team would do horribly there, but they are supporting their NBA team as well as anyone. I think an NBA team would do similarly well in Birmingham.

Neither.
Louisville already had the NBA brass ring with the Colonels and it will not happen again till at least Rick is gone from the Cards bench. Bengals + Colts + Titans are all too close to Louisville for supporting another team. Louisville is the Industrial city that is most likely to support a NFL team and I just can not see it. Politics run deep with both state schools in the state house and any move to compete would get shut down.
Both cities have MLB farm teams and I can see that being the limit of pros in the state.

I agree, neither is going to happen. And I realize now that it takes a lot more people to support an NFL team than an NBA team

NBA. But it'll take someone big enough to take on Pitino and Jurich to get it done. It would be well supported here.

I think the NBA would do well in Louisville, but the Dirty Birds will never stand for it.
