UAB
That was pretty ominous. Many were thinking "Why are we paying this guy so much?" before season then losing to UAB at home. Turned out he was a great coach but at the time...damn.

You would think people would accept that fact after what Bama's OLine did to ND last year.
This
That was about a dominating performance by an O-line that you will see. Granted it was against Notre Dame, but still.

Without Tyrann causing DAT to go functionally retarded in that game, LSU possibly loses.

I honestly think some of Miles' lucky calls had something to do with it. CUM looked like he wanted to cry during the 2010 post game when asked about the fake field goal bounce.
Meyer was gone before that season started. He looked and acted like he didn't want to be there.

Yep, and yet they were 2-2 against each other.
It just isn't fair!
"I've got to go now, I have this choking problem..."
He'll fit right in at OSU.

Yeah cause that's what happened last time LSU played OSU...in a title game at that!

UGA to MSU/WVU, LSU to Penn St/Clemson, etc. Someone ate their stupid pills today....you do realize the Penn St/Clemson losses are the only two OOC games Miles has lost in 8 years right?! No other coach comes close to that record in NCAA right now. shite, even Saban slipped up to UAB and ULM.
Thanks you beat me to it. Lol

that could be true if you didn't play to win the game

meh
Urban had a great run but the way he flaked out at Florida makes me think he's either done mentally as a true #1 coach or he doesn't know how to build a championship team that he can still control
Say what you will about Miles but he has shown he can keep a program at that level in the hardest conference in the country (with the toughest schedule in teh country)

Go rewatch the game. Aside from DAT fumbling twice due to TM7, Oregon was competing with us the whole fricking way deep into the game. It was 16-13 at half. Only reason they weren't winning at half is because we had a fumble return for a TD.
Then it was 30-20 in the 4th qtr. It's not like we blew them out. They competed with us as well as any SEC team minus Alabama that year.

I think he can build, but has problems maintaining. He has said that it is more fun to him to build a champion than keep a champion

Meyer left because he saw Saban had a machine. Florida fans were booing everything his mighty offense did. He quit on us in 09, and then allowed Steve Addazio to run our program during the offseason and completely implode our freaking set up. We were awesome, then sucked. Wasn't lack of recruits, wasn't lack of potiential..it was Addazio being the worst OC I've ever seen, and Meyer not caring. By the time he came back and was "focused" we were done for anyways. Our Oline was the worst we had had in 10 years, our defense was unorganized despite absurd talent, our offense ran a total of maybe 10 freaking plays the whole game and 3 points was a victory that season.

Agree completely. If he can learn to maintain a program he can be on Saban's level IMO, since Saban is just older and has been around longer. He has 2 national titles, and there are how many coaches coaching college football who have 2?
I don't want to say he got "bored" at UF, but maybe complacent is a better way of putting it.
Although I'm not sure he left cause he was scared of Saban; I think the timing just worked out so it is now convenient to say he was scared

To be seen, but there are more and more dual threat QBs around for him to look at and get. I mean there are how many good ones now with Manziel, Miller, Mariotta etc...
I think it will be an interesting experience for me since I have always hated the man, and still don't exactly like him, but I love the program

Meyer is an awesome coach, but completely different from Saban. Don't let anyone try to tell you here he isn't because he dominated the SEC. But he relies on his other coaches. Saban is a control freak where as Meyer puts the pieces in place and micro-manages. You saw it in 09. We have the defending champs, 9 starters on offense, 11 on defense returning. A team that dominated the SEC so much the MOV was the highest in modern history. Yet we regressed, and massively on offense. Meyer never made adjustments. Mullen wasn't there, a guy he depended on to do the right thing with the offense. Addazio tried to run a bully run like Muschamp does now from a spread formation with two 170 pound backs. It was clear something was wrong, but Meyer let Addazio do his thing he trust his coaches. Big mistake. Meyer puts the pieces together beautifully, he is a sculptor. But he didn't do a good job of fixing the product when one side clearly wasn't perfected..don't know if that makes sense.

I've heard this before, and he has kind of said the same himself with losing coaches etc. I'm interested to see what happens when his DC and OC leave, since many are predicting they are gone soon

As long as he hires well he will be fine. He did all he could to keep Strong and got him to stay. Look how that worked out. Just pray he doesn't take his Oline coach and make him OC for you guys...it doesn't work
